It is great!! The owner is nice and friendly. My kids adore this restaurant and beg to come every weekend so...we are regulars. I recommend the Pud See Ewe and the Fresh Coconut sorbet. They won an award called "" Thai Taste- Thai Best. You will be glad that you went there!!
I've been eating here for decades. I have yet to have a dish that was less than fine, and most of the time they are superb. They include things I've yet to see anywhere else (besides their other location). And the same-name dishes, like the stuffed chicken wings appetizer, are free from the excessive amounts of breading seen elsewhere. Another appetizer not to be missed is the Kan Nom Bueng Yuan, colloquially called a ""Thai taco"" .
The Steamed Fish sounds prosaic and is anything but---it includes a variety of other ingredients including shrimp, ground pork, and various vegetables. Yet the flavor of the fish (I believe usually cod) comes through unimpeded. It is also quite a generous portion.
For the spicy dishes, they are happy to adjust the level of hotness to your taste. In that category, the mint noodle features large flat noodles and a marvelous sauce, along with mint and other ingredients including a choice of chicken, beef, pork, or shrimp. It can be truly revelatory in piquancy, and owing to some finding it over the top sometimes, the restaurant needs to be coached a bit to assure you will get something truly epic :-)
There are the standard dishes as well, but although you may want to sample these in a large party, why fill up on them, regardless of how well-prepared, when there are things like soft-shell crab, beef with garlic and pepper---I could go on and on. A good-sized party allows sampling a healthy variety.
Highly recommended. Also the customers are distinctive and generally likeable---this location is close to some studios, for one thing, although plenty of folks come from a distance. On occasions when I have been alone, I often get into fascinating discussions with those at neighboring tables
There is a very limited selection of wine and beer, but corkage is only $10 so bring something wonderful! A robust Syrah, a Chardonnay on the dry side, a Gewurztraminer, a Viognier...there are many options for pairings.

One of their Menu's ""Speciatly Dishes"" was their Thai BBQ Chicken. It was horribly dry and tasteless but the worst part about it was that it wasn't BBQ'd; it was fried chicken. It was gross and the only thing that made it swallable was the sweet & sour sauce.
One of their noodle dishes (Chow Fun noodle dish) was overly greasy and the tofu was dry.
How could Thai Food go wrong? Well Sompun can make good food go bad. Won't ever waste my time & money on this place again.

I'm not sure why the other review is so lackluster; Sompun has the MOST delicious Thai food, it's got better ambience than your usual Thai joint, it's in a convenient location. The tom yum soup is spicy and delicious; the mint noodles are excellent; the chicken sate is also great. My favorite here is the chicken larb, which is spicy, flavorful and filling. If you want Thai food in the valley, this is THE place to go.

I ordered veggie curry and my friend ordered a pork dish. It wasn't bad but I would try another thai place before going there again. My curry was really soupy and thin. The prices were good but the portions weren't as large as other places I have been. The sound system was playing Puff The Magic Dragon. kind of odd. The service was efficient but our waiter was a bump on a log- didn't crack a smile but the water glasses were always full. Clean bathroom, nice if somewhat understated ambiance and OK food.
