Surgery Review

This place saved my dog's life! I had called in for my 7 year old lab, Marley. Marley was doing fine during the day, but later that night he couldn't get up and he was acting very lethargic. As soon as I got on the phone with these technicians, they seemed to understand the problem in a short number of words, and told me to bring him in. Once I got there, a very sweet man and woman used strecher to help me carry him into the back. Since I could not lift him up myself, this was a good b...view moreeginning to our stay at this hospital. They took over from there. \r
\r
When I got inside, I filled out some paper work and was put into a room right away. Dr. Lan came into the room and explained that she suspected Marley had a hemoabdoman, and she would need to do a few tests to confirm this. She got my permission to do an ultra sound and some other blood tests, which was well worth the money to figure out the problem. Dr. Lan came out within a few minutes and comfirmed that my dog did indeed have a hemoabdoman, something that would kill my dog if gone untreated. She recommended I put Marley into surgery quickly to remove his spleen, and hospitalize him for a few days afterwards. \r
\r
I was concerned leaving Marley with people he didn't really know, and I felt very bad about leaving him for longer than a day. However, I would be devasted if I lost him earlier than expected. I agreed to the surgery and the follow-up care. The people were extremely friendly and allowed me to go to the back to say goodnight to my boy. When I walked over to his cage, I was relieved to see that he was in a very large dog-run with about 3 or 4 blankets under him, and already hooked up to an IV. He was wagging his tail when he saw me and made me feel as if he was content there.\r
\r
He went into surgery later that night to have his spleen removed. The doctors called me after the surgery and let me know exactly how it went. They were patient and informative with me everytime I called for an update, which was probably more than usual. Marley had to be hospitalized for three days afterwards. The treatment Marley got was phenomenal. Dr. Lan's work looked very professional as well, and Marley's recovery was as if it never happened.\r
\r
Now for the bill. The bill came out to be about $4,000. However, it truly was worth every penny. Marley is family to me and my husband. We are confident that the surgery and treatment was fairly priced and the hospital was honest with all charges. I am greatful that Marley is still in our lives and we have many years of memories left to create. I woud recommend this hospital to anyone looking for quality treatment and a compasionate staff.

Vet hospital#1

Best place hands down. They see emergencys only. If something happens in the middle of the night this is the place to go. I have used them several times over the years.

You saved Baby

My 15 year old Baby became very sick two weeks ago. Pacing back and forth and unable to get comfortable. Once I got to the hospital she was taken to the back and examined quickly. It was discovered she had what is called a bloat. It is considered a surgical emergency. Two weeks later she is doing great. Thank you guys!

Great vet ER

I had a great experience at this ER last week.

My older cat was acting lethargic and didn't want to eat which is unusual for him. He had vomited once or twice recently but of course he got worse over the weekend when my regular vet was closed and was basically vomiting everything he ate. On late Saturday night I realized that I couldn't wait through the weekend, so I brought him to Animal Emergency Center, which is where my vet refers emergencies to when her office is closed. T
...view morehe staff took Stanley straight to the back because he was so quiet and told me that they would have the doctor take a look right away. A few minutes later a technician (I think her name was Lorna) came up and told me that the doctor was worried because Stanley's temperature and blood pressure were low and he wanted to start some fluids right away. I signed a consent form and they asked for a deposit, and I was relieved that Dr. Cavanaugh came up to talk to me after just a few minutes to let me know what was happening with my favorite cat.

Long and short is that Stanley has kidney failure, which Dr. Cavanaugh explained is common in older cats. It looks like he might have gotten a kidney infection on top of the kidney problems that older cats can get and that's why he got so sick. Dr. Cavanaugh kept him hospitalized through the weekend on fluids and antibiotics and we took him to his regular veterinarian on Monday morning. He had to stay in the hospital for another 2 days but thankfully he is doing better now and came home earlier this week. Our regular vet showed us how to give fluids under the skin to help keep him feeling OK.

I was super nervous about going to an ER because I have seen my regular veterinarian since my cat was young and have never had to go anywhere else. I was glad that my vet referred me here because the staff made me feel at ease almost from the moment I walked in, and they certainly took great care of Stanley. I really appreciated the communication I got from not only the doctor but also the staff. I know Stanley won't live forever but they have helped make him feel better for now and I would not hesitate to go back if he gets sick again.

If you have a pet with an emergency and live anywhere near this hospital, I would highly recommend you go here.

Super Caring and Competent!

My puppy ate my stash and began convulsing. I rushed him to the doc at the Animal Emergency Center. They performed a rapid detox and sent my pup home 110% in the morning. These people are super caring, competent, and even gave me a discount and helped to work out financing. What an exceptional hospital and experience!

Animal Emergency Center will always be in my prayers!

I brought my dog to the Animal Emergency Center for smoke inhalation after my house caught on fire. He was hospitalized for 3 days in oxygen and treated with antibiotics. The staff was extremely warm, compassionate, and knowledgeable. Dr. Morgan Cavanaugh spent a long time consoling me and my family, and brought our precious pet back from the brink of death. I hope to repay them someday. They will always be in my prayers.

Incredible ER!

My dog was bite by a rattlesnake several weeks ago, and was literally brought back to life by the staff at the Animal Emergency Centre! The staff are miracle workers, and extremely professional. They even discounted the bill a little to help me afford the intensive care my dog required. Thank you Animal Emergency Centre!

My Dog the piggy bank!

I have a wonderful 5 year old lab mix AKA piggy bank who happen to find my purse and rummage through it one evening. I happen to notice my coin purse was out in the middle of the floor no coins in it or to be found. My dog being the Vacuum he is ,I called the Emergency Hospt. to see if this was a problem, Pennies I found out =ZINC TOXICITY. And being I had no ideal what could have been in my coin purse , the EC highly recommended doing x rays to verify the coin content in my Dog.

...view morelked to Dr.Payne in a room and and gave her the run down of my Vacuum cleaners incident, of course we already knew x rays were coming, so shortly after they took them Dr. Payne came back into the room and showed my his X rays 1-2-3-4-5 coins visible possibly more she said, first choice she said would be to try Endoscopy where they have a camera and something to try and grab the coins? second if that doesn't work she said would be surgery. All I could think was he better have enough money in that stomach of his to pay for this!
So Endoscopy it was.....
Several hours later I received a Phone call from Dr. Payne telling me that the good new was that she was able to retrieve the 71 cents the bad news was the procedure was more then that. I was very happy to know they didn't have to cut him but on the other hand a zipper may be a good option for my boy as many things as he seems to eat.

the very best veterinary care

about three weeks ago I brought my dog tootsie to the dog park she was attacked by another much larger dog. Tootsie was screaming in pain and bleeding from the back of her neck, I rushed her over to animal emergency centre where she got the very best care. she was taken to the back of the hospital and was given pain meds for not only pain control but to ease her anxiety so she could be thoroughly examined. she was bitten multiple times all over her tiny little body. after being stabili...view morezed I was able to say goodnight to her. I could tell everyone really cared about her and was going to take the very best care of her. I was updated through out the night on her status and her recovery process after having her wounds sutured up by the kindest doctor. I would take my girl there again and again. They made a very painful experience beteer by there kind natureview less
