The Stratford Fire Department has as its central mission the preservation of life and property through the prevention or abatement of all hazards to life safety from fires or similar emergencies for the town of Stratford, Conn. The department is comprised of two main functional divisions. The fire suppression division responds to fires and other emergencies, providing residents and businesses with 24-hour protection. The fire prevention division is responsible for ensuring that all occupancies within the town meet the state fire code and for educating the general public on fire prevention. In addition, the department serves as the first responder for emergency medical care in the community. Other department services provided include water rescue, vehicle extrication and hazardous material incident mitigation. The Stratford Fire Department operates four facilities throughout the town.
