id walked by the place many times, and read the menu and family history in the window. nice story, long legacy, good prices. sadly, it wasnt good.\r \r as another pointed out, the fried items are *very* bland. we didnt bother finishing the crab-filled mushroom caps -- no taste to them.\r \r then we tried the gumbo trio sampler. again, there was just...nothing to them. bland and more bland. so we decided to stop at the apps, not get any entrees. the best thing we had was the complementary bread, and that just wont do.\r \r as for the ""elegant"" atmosphere.. its pretty kitchy -- bright, pink tablecloths, brassy country-style ceiling fan/light fixtures, etc.. not my cup of tea. i figure if youre going to do elegant, do elegant -- white table clothes, classic chairs, handsome lighting fixtures, that sort of thing.\r \r so unfortunately, we'll not be going back.
