Where to go for a drink after a Broadway show on a Saturday night? Why Sardi's of course. I was surprised to walk into the little downstairs bar to find only seven people in the historic drinking spot -- five at the bar, a couple tucked into one of the shelf tables. Though I was expecting a crush of theater-goers ,I quickly realized that there is comfort in small numbers -- especially when Bartender Jose is on duty. The visit soon became an intimate cocktail party with all guests offering tales of their Broadway experiences. We heard that Liza and Sarah Jessica are grand gals . . .that Jose calls Stephen Sondhiem ""Steve"" . . . that Mary (one of the guests at the bar) had a wealth of stories about Broadway celebs . Two gentlemen from Pennsylvania offered show reviews with detailed descriptions of the worst and the best . A little more about Mary -- it seems that she is a frequent visitor at the bar and enjoys sharing stories about her friends, from Lansbury to Pitt. So next time you are in Times Square on a Saturday night, stop by Sardi's for a drink and the ""show."" And please, give my regards to Jose and Mary.
