Sorry Budget, but when you make a deal, you make a deal. Made a reservation with Budget Truck Rental for a truck and trailer to do a military move. Reservation was made 4 June with a pick up date on 29 June. I received a message from a private number (did not show on my phone and I could not call it back) on (late) 27 June (maybe 36 hours before pick up) that the truck and trailer were not going to be available. There was no effort to try and fulfill the reservation at all, just a message that I was out of luck and that I should call the Budget call center to try and find another truck and trailer. I called and was told the best they could do was for me to wait every day for the next week and maybe a truck and trailer would be available. Most likely though, I would not find out until the morning the truck was available. I made these reservations a month in advance to avoid this. The representative also told me they were sorry, but that I should try another company. I called U-Haul and they guaranteed me a truck a few days later than I wanted, but cheaper then Budget because of my trouble. They gave me a $200.00 discount without me even asking. When I called Budget back to cancel my reservation, the representative went as far as to try to charge me a $50.00 cancellation fee. Budget wanted me to pay for their inability to honor a deal that was made almost a month ago. I am in the military and am moving my family from El Paso to DC. Budget's inability to honor the reservation you made on 4 Jun has forced me to change travel plans, change the move in date with my new landlord, change hook up dates for utilities, change airline tickets, and adjust the date I am moving out of our house. Thank you Budget.
