Berry Hill Pet Hospital

I love this Vet and his assistants! The doctor is not very personable but he’s great with my animals. He’s thorough, asks the right questions and he doesn’t break-the-bank with unnecessary tests. He’s a good ole country doctor with very reasonable prices. The assistants or girls in the office are awesome and really friendly. Anytime I have a concern I know I can call & receive good advice. Instead of automatically demanding you to bring in your pet for non-emergencies, they will give you alternatives to try at home before you have to make an office visit. The waiting room is clean but not luxurious. I’m glad…Glitz and glamour equals higher cost for services. And I’ve never had to wait more than a few minutes. He’s been our vet for 10+ years and will continue until he retires.

I've taken my dogs to Berry Hill for the last three years or so. Let me say first that the girls in the office are extremely friendly but I quickly noticed Dr. Pfouts isn't. It wasn't a huge deal for me because I didn't see him as rude, just not friendly. The prices are very reasonable so I decided, well, he isn't the friendliest, but not rude. I had to wait a while because they were busy, so by the time we got in it was close to closing time. Dr. Pfouts was in a bad mood before he even came in the room. He was mad that my dogs needed a heartworm test (because the blood has to be drawn and it takes a few minutes to get the results). He asked when the last time Tater had had a heartworm test, I told him his first vet visit. Dr. Pfouts grunted and said " Oh s**t". When he came in, my dog could feel that Dr. Pfouts was irritated and when he attempted to prepare my dog for the drawing of blood my dog got upset. Instead of a proper muzzle, Dr. Pfouts wrapped a heavy string around my dog's snout very tightly and then then around his neck. It was in a violent manner. I was afraid to say anything at that moment because Dr. Pfouts was almost enraged. My dog is less than 20 pounds! My dog has never acted this way. My dog could feel something wasn't right. I won't go any further but to say I will NEVER take my pets there again. This man needs to be put out of business. If he doesn't like what he does, he needs to shut down. He's out of control.

When you go to Berry Hill they don't make you feel bad if your dog doesn't have an expensive collar or you feed them food from Wal-Mart. These are down to earth real people who love animals. Dr. Pfouts is really "down to earth." Good ole' country vet. My dog just had puppies and one of them wouldn't nurse. I called the office and the "nurse (?)" told me right off what to do feed it. How to get it to "pee". Encouraged me to keep it warm and try it with the mom from time to time. She said she might accept the puppy back after a couple of days. She was encouraging and interested and helpful! She made me feel really hopeful. She did NOT tell me I had better get those puppies in to see them right away or they might die. (Trying to drum up a vet bill). She was interested in the puppy!
