When a customer needs to do a home improvement job, he tried 2 vendors. The first vendor tells him that this job requires $100 material cost, 2 hrs of labor cost with $65 per hr, and total estimate about $ 230. Then he goes to the 2nd vendor, he is told that he will be charged $330, but he will get more value out of it and more services.



The customer signed contract with 2nd vendor. When the job is about 97% finished and customer has paid almost 97% of the total cost by contract, he got a bill totaled at another $1,000, and asked that he has to pay the balance due now, and remaining jobs that are not finished will have to be paid additionally. When this customer argued about it, the vendor showed his total labor cost by hrs, and said, although contract said total cost is $330, I added lots of works and extra features to the job, I need to be paid for that.



This has happened to us from Fellegy Caninet Shop in 2009. The shop left 66% of the work areas that has some works undone, exposed dry walls without sidings, unfinished cabinets, laundry tub not installed, leaving big holes on the wall, not finished hardwood floors stairs, kitchen tiles not installed, etc.
