Overall
Unprofessional and crooked

I know my way around card but I can't work on mine anymore because I'm in a wheelchair. They are pricy and are good with oil changes and small repairs but not when it comes to transmissions. I paid $1500 to get mine rebuilt and it lasted 150 miles. The owner was very rude and didn't want to stand behind his warranty at first. They rebuilt it again and it only lasted about 1000 miles this time. This time he was very rude and said he wasn't gonna touch my truck and he fulfilled the warranty the first time. He acted like a real prick and was not sympathetic at all. $1500 was wasted and I enjoyed my vehicle for about 1150 miles. They never called to keep me updated about my truck or returned my calls for that matter. Don't talk big about what you can do if you're not going to stand behind your work. It's very unprofessional and you're better off sticking with oil changes.

Good Experience

Date of visit: Wed June 5th, 2013

Time of visit: 1:40-3:00 pm

As a new resident of Statesboro, I was hoping to have my car serviced for general maintenance (6 spark plugs, oil change, fuel filter, air filter) at a trustworthy place. I called and the worker at the desk quickly gave me a quote on my services and we scheduled an appointment for later in the day. When I arrived, the person I spoke with remembered me and got me set up (registered) and took my keys, I sat in their fairly comfortable waiting area (good for an auto shop). The price she quoted me changed because I had given her the wrong engine size when I talked to her on the phone, and she came over and notified me of the price change. The quote was high and I was getting nervous I was being taken, but I appreciated that she let me know it would be higher.

As I waited, the owner asked me if I needed anything and turned the TV in my direction so I could see it better. The people at the desk also made conversation sporadically, showing that they knew I was still there.

The best part of the visit, though, was when the man that was working on my car came into the waiting area and asked to speak to me. He brought me into the shop and showed me my air filter. He said that it was very clean still and didn't need changed. He said that he didn't want me to pay more than I had to. I told him I was only getting it changed because Jiffy Lube told me the last two oil changes that I needed it changed. I thanked him for his honesty and told him I don't want it changed. Long story short, that saved a decent bit of money off of the quote.

As they were waiting for parts to arrive, from Auto Zone I presume, the worker kept coming in and updating me on the status, saying that he had everything done that he could do at this point, and was waiting on Auto Zone. They had forgotten to bring the fuel filter and had to make a return trip. The worker even sat at my table for a second and talked to me about my spark plugs (which were really bad) and he basically diagnosed the problem I had been having (which I didn't tell them about as I wanted to make sure they didn't try to swindle me) and said that these new plugs should do the trick, and the fuel filter will make for better performance/mileage. He was a very nice employee and was candid about the entire process, which is rare.

After my car was done, which only took about an hour on a busy day, the desk people checked me out, the price was lower than I had been quoted by about 70$, and I told them I appreciated their honesty and courteous service. Overall, it was a very nice service visit and they earned my business for my future dealings in Statesboro.

Castrol treated me wrong in a ...

Castrol treated me wrong in a very big way. I was a student at Georgia Southern University and had taken my car there for years. They were the only mechanic I let touch my car other than the mechanic I had at home in Atlanta. My check engine light had come on about 6 months ago and I took the car to castrol, like I would have done in any other situation. They gave me the codes that came up and gave me a quote for $700 to fix the issue. I declined to have it fixed right away so I could get the advice of my mechanic back home. I called my Atlanta mechanic and he instructed me to wait because the code only meant that an emissions tube had a leak and I could wait. Once I finally returned to Atlanta, my mechanic finally could look at my car. He then told me that the reason my check engine light was on because my EVAP hoses had been cut. It was a clean cut as if someone took scissors and cut the hose. He fixed it for free but said that he would have only charged $20 tops to fix this kind of issue. I then called the owner at Castrol to tell him what happened. I approached the issue in a non accusatory tone and the conversation did not go well. Not only did he get incredibly defensive, he swore on the phone and told me that I had no business calling him and accusing his business of something like this. He said that it was stupid for someone to cut those hoses and if he was trying to cheat me, he would have cut different hoses. I held a lot of trust in this mechanic, but after all of this, I will never recommend this shop again.

Castrol Car Care Center

I have had many experiences with different auto service and repair shops in many geographic locations. We all enter these shops with distrust, and fear that we will be taken advantage of. I can state beyond any doubt, that I have had nothing but the best treatment and service from this establishment. The owner has personally overseen the care of my car repairs and his prices were not only reasonable, but significantly beat the dealers' each and every time. I have had all my vehicles serviced here over the past eight years, and will continue to have them serviced here as long as they are in business.

Great place for car repairs!

My daughter is a student at Georgia Southern. She has an older model care that has needed repairs in the last year or two. Everytime she has taken her care to this garage and has been given excellent service! The owner is courteous and has her car done the same day and their prices are fair! I would highly recommend this place to anyone!
