Parlor 88 recently put out a Groupon that cost $18 and was good for $37.96 worth of food. This included two entrees ( $10.99 each) and one appetizer or dessert (a $15.98 value). When we arrived with our Groupon, we were told that the menu had just changed, and many of the menu items as well as the dessert fondue offered on the Groupon were no longer available. The $15.98 dessert fondue was a big reason we bought the Groupon, so we were disappointed. The only dessert options remaining were $6.99-7.99, and the appetizers were $3.99-9.99. We asked if we could get one appetizer and one dessert in place of the $15.98 value that we had the Groupon for, but were denied. In addition, the new menu also had no $10.99 entrees as offered on the Groupon we purchased.
In the end, our total was $27 - $10 less than the value of the Groupon. Then, we were given a check for $2.14 in tax. Groupon and other daily deal users will know that typically you only pay any amount over the value of the Groupon - and we were $10 under. The fine print on Groupon did not specify that tax would be paid on this deal.
Our food was average, and the service was slow. Our appetizer (jalepeno dip) was good, but the veggie sliders were very plain and bland.
Often we purchase Groupons to try new restaurants, then return to places we like. We will NOT be returning to Parlor 88 after this poor experience and their failure to honor the value of a purchased Groupon.
