417 Pet Sitting
Leave the pet sitting to professionals!
417 Pet Sitting has been watching my 3 dogs for the past two years. Amanda and her staff are fantastic. Not only do my dogs love her but so do we! I have no worries when out of town because they take care of bringing in my mail and newspapers, trash can, water my plants, turn lights off and on. Not only are my pets well cared for but no one knows we are out of town because our home looks lived in. I would highly recommend 417 Pet Sitting.
We entrusted Amanda and 417 Pet Sitting to care for our dogs over a week while we visited family last summer. I’ve always considered my two doxies a little high maintenance, plus we have a cat who wanders indoors/outdoors. My animals seemed calm, unfazed and relaxed when we returned home- a far cry from trips that sent them to a typical kennel. It was clear they barked and cried the entire time they spent “institutionalized.” Being able to stay in their home was reassuring to the dogs and gave me peace of mind. Amanda would text photos of them to my phone to reassure me they were comfortable. Plus my house also had a “sitter.” Each room was as I had left it with no dirty clothes or dishes strewn about. I was more than satisfied with my experience with 417 Pet Sitting and will hire Amanda again.
Amanda and her team are amazing with pets and with their owners! I don't personally own any pets, but I know that people really do think of their pets as children and they require that the person watching after them treat them accordingly. It seems that almost everyone that I know has used 417 Pet Sitting when they have gone on vacation and they speak very highly of the care their pet received. Also, Amanda always asks about their pets by name which is a testament to how much she values the relationship with the actual pets themselves.
I have used 417 Pet Sitting for nearly 5 years. We have two rescued Great Danes one of which was severely abused before coming to us. He is naturally shy around people and has separation issues and anxiety. He adores owner and operator Amanda. We have never had any trouble or problems with her service or care of our animals. She follows the boys very strict daily routine to the letter. We receive pix and updates of our boys when on vacation. Plus we have the piece of mind knowing our home, valuables, and family is safe when we can not be there. Our home is left like we never left and the boys do not have the stress of being away from their environment and family. I would NEVER consider leaving town without calling 417 Pet Sitting for my home and animal care!!
Amanda Brown, Owner & Operator of 417 Pet Sitting, watched our dogs on December December 9th. She did not arrive until nearly Midnight because she was out drinking at Parlor 88 based on her Facebook profile check-in statement (supposed to be there at 8pm). She also proceeded to steal my clothing and shoes (shown of her Facebook profile photo).
Immediately when arriving home from the trip, I noticed my cream UGG slippers and two dress were missing. At the time, I had no proof she had taken them.
She was confronted on January 31st about the stolen articles after I saw her Facebook profile photo wearing my cream cashmere shawl and lavender tank-top with sequins.
This has all been documented with photos, and has now been sent to the police after I confronted her about the missing items. She denied the allegations, and even went to the extent of calling me "insane" and stated "you still haven't even paid your invoice". Funny thing about that is: I asked her on three separate occasions where to mail a check and how much was owed. She never responded in one text, in the other she simply stated "thank you", and the third attempt was over the phone.
The charges will be dropped when I receive the items back. Thus far, the total amount of the items missing is $888.90.
The allegations are false and this posting has been sent to my attorney and deemed slanderous and defamation of character. As a side note no police report has been filed nor have charges been pressed.
417 Pet Sitting has been our ONLY pet sitter since we moved here 3 years ago. We have 3 dogs, one who has horrible anxiety. We had been asked not to bring her back to the 'puppy retreat' we used to take them where we used to live. She simply caused to much damage. Since we have had 417 Pet Sitting come to our home, there has been zero damage.
We go out of town 4-5 times a year, sometimes for short trips, and sometimes for 2 weeks at a time (over the holidays). Not only are our pet's taken care of, but the garden is picked (if needed), mail is brought in, and plants are watered. We have the additional peace of mind that not only are our dogs in their own environment, we also have a presence in our home, leaving it less vulnerable to break-ins.
This summer, we had a family emergency, and had to leave town within hours. It was nice to be able to call 417 Pet Sitting, and know that someone would be there in time for the dog's to have dinner. During our 10 day trip for Christmas, we got pictures of our dog's in front of the Christmas tree "wishing us a Merry Christmas". Our sitter also texted us several updates of the dogs, and a picture of the 2 cat's playing among the presents.
In short, we are lucky to have found 417 Pet Sitting. We are able to leave town knowing that our pet's and our home are in good hands. And if the puppies could talk, I'm sure they would say they enjoy the spoiling too!
I completed the application for pet sitting in mid November for a Christmas vacation. I received a reply approximately a month later.
The pet sitter was supposed to leave a report card or some indication she was there. I received nothing. The sitter's voice mail was flippant, indicating she may or may not call me back. At least she was honest, about half the time, she didn't call me back.
They wanted a key to my house or a garage code. I gave her the garage code, because 417 Pet Sitting wanted $15.00 for me to get my own key back!!! WHAT???
I never heard how my dogs did while I was on vacation. The only thing I received in a timely and professional manner was an email, which contained the billing. Go figure!
Thank you so much for your comments Shannon. You are correct, we spoke on the phone at the beginning of November at which point you requested service for the Christmas holiday. I said we would give you a call the end of the month to get an initial consultation set up closer to your holiday trip. That was agreed upon. The sitter forgetting to leave report card behind was an accident. As for her voice mail - I'm sorry that you didn't like her message. It is her personal phone and as such, I have no control over what she leaves as her greeting. When you call the business line (even my cell phone) you get a professional message with office hours and information. I return calls quickly and promptly - as a business owner should. We ask for your house key and/or garage code in order to ensure access to the house. The reason we have a $15 Key Return fee is for convenience. Not only would it be cumbersome for us to pick up and return keys to clients before and after each service - as we have over 300 clients, but in the case on an emergency we have the key to take care of the pets. I have been pet sitting for 11 years now - 5 of that was managing a corporate franchise pet sitting company. It was their policy as well. There is a method behind the madness, and if you had questions or concerns I wish you would have called me direct to have those questions answered. I apologize that you had a less than optimal experience, and I'm even more sorry that I had to find a review on Yelp! to see that you were unhappy with your service.
