Living in the Atlanta area, we are familiar with many great restaurants. We were in the Springfield area visiting family and this restaurant intrigued us. We decided to try it--great decision! The restaurant itself is amazing--the decor was unique and so inviting. We especially loved the booths downstairs. We felt like we were in our own private space. The food was outstanding and so reasonably priced. We had several dishes but especially loved the Tequenos and the Drunken Goat Seco--so unlike anything we had ever tasted before. We met the owners who are as friendly and welcoming as family. If you are in the area, this is definitely worth the trip. You won't be disappointed!
There's a lot of "hole-in-the-wall" BBQ places in Springfield - Buckingham's, Pappy's, Crosstown, etc. - all pretty good. And then there are the higher end places like Famous Dave's and Rib Crib. Holler Boys stands up in both taste and quality to all of these while being slightly cheaper. Their meats and sauce don't set them apart from the others (I didn't try their ribs) but they are tasty. Highlights are the homemade fries and fried pickles. They don't have seating so plan for take-out. Certainly worth dropping in if you want some quick, decent BBQ to take home on the cheap.
