The South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department is an employment agency for people with disabilities. It works with more than 400 businesses and industries to prepare its clients for the workplace. The department provides education regarding skills and behaviors and performs contract work for local businesses. The South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department is comprised of more than five members. It offers referrals for vocational rehabilitation services to high schools, colleges, universities, physicians and hospitals, alcohol and drug treatment organizations, private rehabilitation facilities and vendors of artificial appliances and prosthetic devices. The department operates over 15 area offices and nearly 20 work training centers. The South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department maintains a training center in Spartanburg, S.C.
