Just got back from staying at this resort for 1 week. Great location on Mission Bay. Resort is nice throughout with great pool etc. Has a nice restaurant and seperate bar too. They have 2 seals that are in a huge pond that are part of the rescue mammel project in San Diego. They feed them twice a day. They also have a cool big paddle boat (like the kind that use to go along the Mississippi river) that takes you on a 1 hour tour of the bay. It only runs Fri & Sat nights. The 1 point that wasn't so good, is the room we stayed in had an old boxy tv - not flat screened which I expected for the price we paid a night, plus it being a suite. The Suite we stayed in was one of the first built years ago - and it had a bit of a musty smell.
I recently took my family here for a vacation and didn't realize until just before we arrived that I went here as kid myself when it was called Vacation Village. It has been upgraded (thankfully) but could use a little polish. But the set up is perfect for families. The pool has a long walk-in section for little ones and the bungalow style rooms let you put the kids down then sit on the patio, looking at the bay while having a drink. It is one of the few places that allows for bonfires on the beach at night. The smores taste good here. Close to Sea World and other SD attractions. Onsite restaurants make it all easy.
Whenever we visit San Diego (twice yearly), we make a stop at PB Resort Wear. I checked their hours this morning before leaving the hotel and their site said, "Open now, open 24 hours a day," which seemed odd, but OK. I arrived and the place was locked up tight. More frustrating was the fact that there was no sign on the door indicating when they ARE open! 9:00? 10:00? 11:00? Or perhaps the owner is on vacation!!! A simple sign with hours posted is standard! Otherwise, I love the store, but this is the reason for my 3-star rating.
