Memory Lane

I havn't been to Texa ince 1968 but I am o happy to know that Earl Abel' Re taurant i till in operation! I worked there briefly in 1968 before my Military hu band wa deployed to Vietnam. I believe the World' Fair wa ju t down the road and we did a bu tling bu ine ...more. I ab olutely loved working there. The people were great, the food wa fanta tic and it wa about the nice t re taurant I had been to. I left employment abruptly when the Ho te brought me a party of 15 to wait on. I could bearly tand the mell of food becau e I wa newly pregnant and wa having morning ickne . All the e year later I till have fond memorie of working there and even remember the name of ome of the other employee . Tonight I found my old name tag and a menu from 1968 which prompted me to google Earl Abel' . I have lived in California all the e year - but I have never forgotten what a great place Earl Abel' wa , and look like till i . If I ever return to Texa , I will definitely put Earl Abel ' on my route. Stay in bu ine !!! Laurie Akin (Spangler) Woodland, CA.view less

Ignorant people' review

I don't think alot of the e people that are leaving negative review are really educated in the hi tory of Earl Abel . THe old location had been there for many many year and back in the 50 it wa THE place to go to. So, naturally a the e young ter from the 50' grew up, ...morethey continued to go there becau e they had alway gone there. So, the whole geriatric vibe that you get when you go there ha ju t been explained. If you grew up going omewhere and it wa till open when you were a enior, wouldn't you want to go and relive your youth? I have never once experianced anything bad there and their food ha alway been great. The chicken fried teak i huge and you definatly get your money' worth on that. Maybe ome of the waitre e are in their 70' , but that bring u back to the whole fact that it been a an antonio favorite for many many year . Maybe ome of the e review are written by people that haven't been a Texan for very long. GO HOME YANKEESview less

Thur day afternoon about 15 of my lady friend and I came in to have our monthly lunch with the Betty Ford Group. Erin wa our erver and he wa fanta tic. She de cribed all the di he we had que tion about and helped u choo e the perfect lunch entree. The food took a li...morettle longer than we had planned on, but Erin brought u out dinner roll and cracker until our entree were ready. We never had to a k for refill and he did not ru h our lunch. Mo t of u were too full for de ert, but he recommended we take a lice of cake or pie home, which I wa very excited about later that evening. We were each on our own eparate ticket and Erin had no problem keeping u all eparate and he had exact change for all of u . We have thi luncheon almo t every month and we would like to have Erin every time. She i by far the be t waitre we have ever had!!!!!
