US Glass installed two sets of windows and sliders in my condo earlier this year and charged me more than $22K for materials and labor. Both sets of sliders failed during hurricane Irma and allowed water to enter underneath them, destroying 360 sq ft of my brand new flooring. Nathan Barrett, Vice President of the company, came to my condo afterwards and assured me that, if any of the damage was due to the sliders, US Glass would cover 100 percent of the cost to replace the damaged flooring. This turned out to be a big lie! It took a long time to get the replacement flooring, and it was just installed Monday. I informed Nathan of the total cost of the damage, $3K, and he said US Glass would not pay. Nathan and his father Chip came to my condo and explained the reason for the failure was the caulking they used did not adhere to the aluminum. I told them that they are the professionals and it was not my fault that they used caulking that failed. They said it wasn’t their fault either (huh???). While they did recaulk with a different product to fix the problem (hopefully), they refused to pay for damages and even told me that, if they had been doing the whole building, they would have used a better installation process. I guess since I was the only one in the building that contracted with them for new windows, they thought I deserved a substandard installation and that I should be the one to pay for the resulting damage. Now I’m forced to file a claim through the court. Do yourself a huge favor and steer clear of these guys!
