Cambridge Taylor Rental

My family had planned a gathering for a week or so ago. We were planning on using tables that we already owned. Unfortunately, we found that our tables had rusted and would no longer be suitable to use. We called Cambridge Taylor Rental and they brought us over tables in only a few hours. It was really remarkable service and the pricing was crazy good.

Taylor Rental of Cambridge abandoned us with an incomplete tent that we had to finish installing. Taylor Cambridge did not bring enough walls to complete the tent, one of the walls had a huge hole in it, the walls were not secured to the poles and were flapping dangerously, and the company refused to send anyone to complete it. The evening was to be cold and raining but the company lied to us and said that the tent was left incomplete because it needed "ventiliation." The manager failed to remember that in 2015, when the company was better managed, we had rented a tent that was heated AND complete. In desperation, with rain pouring and wind howling, I contacted Taylor West Roxbury, and they saved us by loaning us two tent walls. We had to install them, of course. Thankfully I also had some ties in the garage that we were able to use to anchor the sides to the poles. The tent was finished barely before the guests arrived. Save yourself a huge headache - DO NOT USE Taylor Cambridge.

I happily rented a selection of tables and chairs from Taylor Rental for my Husbands 30th birthday celebration. Impressed with the best price quote I had received after speaking with 3 other companies, I booked the rental and gave my deposit. The woman I spoke to was sweet and pleasant I was so sure this was an excellent decision. I made the initial reservation on June 9th for my June 21st event. I called on June 20th to authorize my final payment as the delivery was set to happen that day between 8-10am. After waiting until 1pm and receiving no delivery, I called in, the woman i spoke to asked me my name and then stated "oh yeah someone was supposed to call you, your delivery has been pushed back." Frazzled i asked her "ok, I need to go out and finish my preparations, exactly when will I get my delivery?" " you will have the Equipment by the end of the day, you don't have to stay and wait, we will place it under or on your porch" to make a super long story short, the delivery never came that day, after 3 angry messages i finally got through to someone at 9pm assuring me i would have my delivery BEFORE 10am the next day which now put me 24hrs behind on my set up time, i call at 945 am still no delivery woman told me delivery guy was on his way, he showed up at 10:15 with an attitude as if I inconvenienced him. I missed the first 5 hours of my husbands birthday event because I had to wait for tables and then proceed to set up and entire 60 person event ON the day alone because Taylor rental lapsed the time i had available to acquire help, without so much as phone calls, updates of ANY kind,a discount or apology. Then again why should i expect any of that, I'm not a paying customer now am I? I would love Taylor rental to come back and dispute this occurrence, I would certainly arrange for all of my witnesses to write supporting reviews.

We rented a Penske truck for our move and we were assigned to pick it up from Taylor Rental. While the Penske truck was great, the service we received from Taylor Rental was terrible.



I have never gone online to write a review before, but I have taken the time to do so in this case to warn future potential customers.



The specific problems were as follows:

1. NOT ON TIME. We rented our truck several weeks in advance, but I called the day before to confirm everything. Karen (the owner) was rude and unhelpful. I confirmed the fact that we also wanted to rent a hand truck and furniture pads. However, when we showed up the following day, the furniture pads were not there. I was told someone would "bring them right down." After an hour of waiting, I jokingly asked if they were being brought down from a different location. I was surprised to find that the answer was yes. The furniture pads did finally arrive, but a full 2.5 hours after our scheduled rental time.



2. UNHELPFUL STAFF. Due to the logistics of our move, it would have been helpful for us to leave the car we were going to tow overnight at the Penske Medford location. Karen said she talked to Penske Medford and it wasn't allowed. I called Penske Medford myself and they assured me that was fine and was done all the time. I asked Karen what the source of her prior information was, and she made a face and disregarded my question.



3. INCORRECT BILLING. Upon finally checking out, I checked the bill presented to me by Taylor Rental against the quote provided to me by Penske and I found that Taylor rental was overcharging me. The fuel had also been listed as "full" when it was in fact 7/8 (not an insignificant amount of money when you consider that this is around 6-8 gallons in these large trucks and Penske charges you $6-8 per gallon if they have to fill it themselves). Also, the contract number they provided for our car carrier was actually for a car dolly, and I was rudely mocked when I suggested that the contract be changed to reflect what I was actually renting.



4. RUDE STAFF. Perhaps most problematic, the staff of Taylor Rental never once apologized for any of the many problems we encountered. They didn't apologize for being 2.5 hours late in getting our rental ready to go. They didn't apologize for the misbilling and misdocumentation. In contrast, the owner (Karen) was rude and patronizing.



THE SOLUTION: RENT DIRECTLY FROM PENSKE MEDFORD! All of our interactions with Penske Medford were excellent. They were on-time, helpful and, most importantly, professional.
