Nitty Gritty Cafe

The cat fish is amazing, the Ruben, the grilled chicken sandwich, the burgers, everything on the menu. I've ate here loads of times, and I will continue to eat here. Everyone is always friendly, and the food is always fresh and homemade.



To the people who left bad reviews saying the food was out of a can, it is an open kitchen! Did you not watch them make your food? I watch every time, and I watch them make other people's food, they make everything. Did you seriously have nothing better to do then troll review restaurants cause you didn't get free food or something?

The Nitty Gritty Cafe has been the best place I have eaten at in this area in a long time. They have daily specials everyday along with fresh vegetables and daily desserts. They have CATFISH on Fridays which is the best I have ever ate. They also have all you care to eat CATFISH on Friday and Saturday afternoons. The only thing I could suggest is to have the CATFISH everyday.

Soddy Daisy is filled with fast food places, but not many good restaurants. The Nitty Gritty Cafe is a good family owned restaurant with homemade food and pinto beans made from dry that come with every entree! Absolutely anything you order from this place is delicious! They make you feel like family and you feel like you're sitting in your mom's kitchen! When you come on down to the Nitty Gritty, you will not be disappointed!

had supper here tonight for the first time. I really recommend the all american burger and fries. Great service! Very nice!

My family was in town for the weekend. We ate dinner tonight at the Nitty Gritty Cafe. The service was great. The food was delicious and the portions were large. Very reasonably priced. Wish we lived closer we would eat here often!

This place is like home away from home. My first impression when I walked in was that it reminded me of sitting in my mommas kitchen and I told the owners that. They have really turned this place around and for the better! They are so friendly and take good care of you while you are here. They try hard to make an effort to get to know everyone in their restaurant which says a lot because most places you dont even get to meet the owner much less them tell you how much they appreciate you coming in. The food speaks for itself and it is all homemade - even their amazing dessert selection. Cant get this food anywhere else in this town and the price for homemade meal with a meat and 2 vegetable with bread is $6.79 - you cant get a burger and fries for that anywhere. This is def my new fave!! Keep doing what you are doing Nitty Gritty and you will be just fine ;)

OML....went off one of the other reviews .. Let me tell you , asked

for the special. It came out dry cold and burnt.. cold cornbread and beans out of the can I believe..I quietly told the waitresss and she removed the iteams without asking If I cared for anything else.My husband had the burger.. DRY We rarely go out for this reason ... WE MAKE THINGS BETTER....finally the check..... The owner did nothing about adjusting the TICKET ...seeings I did not eat it she STILL CHARGED ME FOR IT..... COME ON ... I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE FOR THIS NITTY GRITTY WHOLE IN THE WALL. AS FAR AS THE STAR RATING IT WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO GIVE IT A 1/2 STAR.

Not anything to write home about. The broccoli salad was old, chicken salad from Sam's. I won't be back to pay these prices to eat from styrofoam.

I have never in my life written a review for a restaurant, but this one definitely deserves it. The Nitty Gritty Cafe has an excellent location. Same building as polly's produce near Soddy lake on Dayton pike. First thing we noticed upon walking in was the great job the owners did in redecorating the inside of this building. Next was the wonderful customer service. Prompt attention and very sweet people. And then there us the best part, the food! Everything, and I mean everything is homemade!!! Mashed potatoes are real, not out of a box! Excellent! My husband and I have eaten here 4 times in one week! We will keep coming back!!!!
