- In 1883, Barney Kroger, with only $372, opened a grocery store in downtown Cincinnati. More than 120 years later, as the supermarket business has evolved into a variety of formats aimed at satisfying the ever-changing needs of shoppers, Kroger has grown to over 2,500 stores in 31 states under two-dozen banners and annual sales of more than $66 billion. Today, Kroger ranks as one of the nation s largest retailers. Kroger has pioneered many innovations in the supermarket industry. During the 1930s, it was the first grocery chain to monitor product quality and test foods. In 1972, Kroger became the first grocery retailer in America to test an electronic scanner. It was installed in a store in suburban Cincinnati. Technology plays an important role in Kroger s store operations, with more than 1,600 Kroger stores offering self-checkout. Kroger spans many states with store formats that include grocery and multidepartment stores, convenience stores and mall jewelry stores. Among the brands it operates are Fred Meyer, Ralphs, Fry s, Baker s, Food4Less, KwikStop and Tom Thumb. Kroger is headquartered in Cincinnati, and maintains a store in Snellville, Ga.
I love this store. The staff is very helpful and friendly. I love the selection of items and the prices are good, I refer to this location as "my Kroger". The customer services is excellent as well, and I feel as though I am shopping with friends.
This store changed my mind about Kroger stores. I had sworn I would not step into another after numerous bad experiences at other locations, but I got stuck and needed to run in for a couple of things. What a difference! Big, clean, good prices. I was able to find what I needed (and then some). But...the big difference was the staff. Unusually friendly and helpful. I will drive out of my way to come back here!
Awhile back I had some of those gift certificates for Kroger. They were some charity thing from back when I was in college. Anyway the strange thing was, that even with the watermarks on them this place still had to verify these eight ways from sunday. WTF? Seriously. Every other kroger I ever used these at had no problems .
The bakery here is top notch. One of the things I like about kroger is that their hot foods are always good. This place was able to get me a birthday cake made IN AN HOUR. How many places can do that for you? I also like the guy behind the counter. One time I asked for a giant oreo cookie and he actually baked me a massive chocolate cookie and put frosting inside it. It was like a foot across. Sometimes I wonder if that would have made me a diabetic.
Everytime I go into this kroger the people are friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is relaxing and the store is kept neat and clean every time that I have been in there. I hope that this kroger will always stay this way because if they do they will always have my business.
