Fort Thompson Sporting

I've been going over 30 years and can't count the items I've bought there. The problem I see is a cadre of lookers hanging out, taking up all the salesmen's time with no intention of buying anything. I waited to buy a pistol while some yahoo had to be handed every pistol ( and there are a lot) in the store then walked to the long gun section and did the same, bought nothing. Great selection, good price. All the complainers, go someplace else and make room for the rest of us.

Wow, a lot of nasty reviews on here? I guess that stems from people in my generation being used to instant gratification. Oh well, its a shame they don't understand what a gem this store actually is. These guys know their stuff, they are extremely friendly and helpful, and not to hurt anyone's feelings but they know more than you do. This store still operates the way they did when I was a kid walking through the doors in the old location near protho. That's honestly amazing, they don't have the fancy computer systems that Gander Mountain has so yes, you will need to go in to see what they have. However, I've never considered that a bad thing. There is always something new for me to see, a new point to consider, or another brain to pick. That's another huge thing, you can pick their brains and they will teach you via firsthand experience. Im sorry to those that haven't had the experience here you wanted, but please try to understand, this place is not Walmart. This is a family owned and operated store (and i know the owners family, none of whom are dufuses) that has managed to survive and thrive in a world of click and deliver purchases. There is a reason for that. Fort Thompson is a store for good old boys, run by good old boys. I cannot give higher praise than that.

I understand the negative customer service reviews. I do not live in the central Arkansas area but called Ft. Thompson today to inquire as to what brand of a certain type of firearm they carried. I did not ask for, or need, more than a few seconds but all I could get from the person that answered the phone was that they were busy and that I would just need to come in. This was after telling him that I did not live in the area. I am sure that they will not miss my money but I am certainly taking it elsewhere.

I was surfing around looking for a 45-70 lever action rifle and googled Fort Thompson. I have purchased several weapons/guns from them in the past as well getting my info for my CC License. I have found the staff very knowledgable for everything I was looking for. The only problem I had was the place is so crowded at times and ALL the staff are helping customers so I had to wait a few minutes... imagine that. Their prices are good and most of the time they have a better quality selection of firearms then Gander or Academy (both great places as well).



I do have a suggestion in regards to your website. Advertise, It's not that difficult to show what you have as far as firearms and if you don't have them in stock... order them if a customer requests. Anyway you have a good store and that's all that matters. Thanks for your help and I have had no issues with any of the firearms or ammunition I have purchased.
