Northern Lakes Veterinary Clinic - Shell Lake

Recently while visiting family in WI my dog Coty a Great Pyrenees had become Ill. He quit eating and became weak. We searched the internet and discovered Northern Lakes. They were able to see Coty immediately and were very compassionate and understanding . We lost our Coty a few days later but is was for the best as he seemed to be suffering. northern Lakes handled everything and explained everything in detail. It was a good experience during a difficult time. We thank you very much! You will always hold a special place in our hearts!

My family has been using the Northern Lakes Veterinary Clinics for over 20 years and we love them! My pets love to come and see everyone, they are treated so well. We have gotten to know all the doctors and really appreciate their kindness and care. We recommend this clinic to all of our friends.

It is very easy to understand how a perceived comment or level of care may be misunderstood in a time of desperation and sadness of a pet's passing. My pets have been patients at Northern lakes Clinic since it opened, and utilized Dr. Stones Cumberland location often as well. My pet's have included rescue cats, springer spaniel, chocolate labrador, shepherd/husky, and a purebred Karelian Bear Dog imported from Denmark. My Shepherd/Husky required extensive hip surgery, the operation performed by Dr. Stone with the assist of his Vet Tech's was flawless. This not only extended my dog's life, ability to walk, but was also responsible for him being pain free. The interaction I have had with ALL members of Northern Lakes Veterinary Clinic has always been superlative in nature. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone wishing professional pet care, by highly trained individuals, at a reasonable rate. From initial greetings from the person behind the counter, to the end of your visit, you will not find a more friendly group of people.

I think Dr. Stone is okay. However, I had my sick pet in on 2/24/10. When the Vet Tech was in the examining room, she seemed to take an instant dislike to me. The animosity and contempt was thick in that room. I didn't know the woman so I don't know what the problem was. Well, when this woman was in the room, my cat summoned all her strength, lifted her head and shoulders off the towel she'd been placed on and let out a scream like I've never heard before - it was a cry of terror and desperation. I petted and tried to soothe her saying, "It's okay, sweetie, you don't have to be afraid." The vet tech SNAPPED at me and said, "She's NOT afraid - she's just sick!" Well, I knew my animal. I knew she was afraid and I think the animosity emanating out of that woman towards me, caused my cat to be even more afraid. The vet wanted me to leave her there, but later called to say they couldn't save her, so I went back to get the body. The same Vet Tech was the one who gave me the bag with her body in it, I said I wanted to see her to make sure I had the right animal. She opened the bag wide, held her hand about six inches above it for about 10 seconds, looked at me with a little smile on her face, and then petted my dead pet. It was as if she were gloating (I didn't like you and now, ha ha, your pet is gone!) Because of that woman, I will NEVER go back there! I know what her name is, but I didn't think I should post it here.
