Don't go there... The front desk staff was friendly and new how to sell the place... BUT, the freaking massage staff (I don't dear call them therapists) since I'm not sure of they even have qualifications. I too dropped a bunch of cash just to have someone not listen to me as they randomly gently rubbed my body with oil. I was like, "what the heck?!" I asked for Deep Tissue and work done on my shoulders other specific areas within my right upper back region... The "thera...view morepist" proceeded to focus the entire massage on my left side. Moreover, the "therapist" would wiggle/shake thing on my muscles and didn't seem to get the concept of anatomy--let alone the anatomy of the soul. Complete waste of money people!!!view lessShare Review

The technician got ill and I was notified 5 minutes before my show time for my appointment. It is 25 minutes each way from my house and I was only 3 minutes away from the spa. At first I was not offered any compensation for my lost time, but after a few complaints I received fair compensation. I still feel they should offer something to the client if they have to reschedule at the last minute, but I am satisfied with the results now.Share Review
Stay away from these crooks. My wife got a membership and wasn't happy with the massages and let it lapse ... or so we thought. They had pulled the old trick where you're automatically renewed when your membership ends, and my wife lost sight of the $50/month charge appearing on her credit card because we had a lot of expenses at the time. They left a message on our answering machine recently and spoke so fast you couldn't even understand them. When my wife called them back, she was to...view moreld she's been paying fees for the last 7 months and has 7 massages and has until September to use them. (It is now August.) You'd think they could have said something before now, but, of course, their intent was to steal from us, and by catching us at a busy and expensive time, they succeeded. They refused to refund anything or even extend the time for my wife's massages, and they're not transferrable to other people. There's no way we can get what we were tricked into paying for. Our advice is to go to a proper spa and stay away from this dishonest business.view lessShare Review
The waiting area is nice. However i'm fairly certain that i just paid 100 bucks to have someone gently rub lotion on me. Lotion that did not smell that great. Prior to the massage i informed the girl that my upper right back muscle was sore and was making my neck sore. I also told her that i wanted a strong , firm massage. She either didn't listen or just did what she wanted. She barely massaged my back - thats like the main reason i'd get a massage -- i can reach my feet. She s...view moreomehow spent less time on my neck and then she thanked me for coming in and said the massage was over. I was in shock. So much so that i dont' think it hit me until today how ridiculous it is to pay 98 bucks - it wasn't worth 20. The upsell at the check out was annoying. Maybe if i had actually been massaged it would have been less annoying. I will never go back there. I won't recommend it to anyone.view lessShare Review
I've been receiving regular massages at the Severna Park facility for the past year. Most of their therapists have good educational backgrounds, are pleasant in their demeanor and do excellent work. I'm always careful to state what I'm looking for before I book an appointment. For example, I tell them that my right shoulder is cramped and that my neck is stiff. I also state that I want a therapist with strong hands-not looking for a light touch.
I probably visit this particular bus...view moreiness twice a month. They make sure that I leave far more relaxed than when I arrived:) I give them a high recommendation in terms of effectiveness and friendliness!view less
This place was horrible. I have been getting massages for 14 years now and I like to get a taste of every massage business and spa around ever since my first therapist Sally left the business 9 years ago.
The environment at the Severna Park ME was very nice and professional looking. But once I had gotten inside the door, the front desk staff started to push me to sign a contract for the $59/mo for 12 months. The high pressure sales pitch did not ever end. In my experience, the thera...view morepists where also somewhat pushy when it came to memberships. Nonetheless, I decided to give this place a chance because I had learned a long time ago -especially in the massage industry- that even in the most unlikely atmospheres, you can sometimes find a real gem in the rough.
My first massage there was not too great. You could clearly tell that the therapist was not really paying attention to her massage at all. She seemed worn-out and unfocused it seemed like she spent most of her time talking about herself than massaging me! In my 14 years of being a self-proclaimed "massage aficionado" I would dare say that this ranked up there with one of the worst massages I have ever gotten.
To be fair, I understand that any spa has more than one therapist so I tried again two weeks later with a different therapist. The front staff was kind enough to allow me to try again at the introductory rate.
This time, the therapist was much better. Indeed, he had a very strong and caring touch and stayed consistently focused on me the entire massage. I had gotten one of the best massages I had ever gotten since Sally retired from massage therapy. I must admit that the second chance I gave massage envy really impressed me enough to sign up for a 6-month contract (yes, after enough negotiation, and to the front desk staff's repeated denials, you CAN get a 6 or maybe even shorter membership plan)
Unfortunately, after that great massage, I had tried on at least 4 separate occasions to get the same therapist again and have been continually given appointments with other therapists that I did not want. They had told me before I signed up that I could "request" a therapist, but everytime I tried to book an appointment with him, they would say that he is unavailable or not working there anymore.
At this point, I decided that I no longer wanted to be a member of a spa that does not honor its client's wishes on their chosen therapists! I was enraged that they would not allow me to cancel my membership for any reasons I tried to tell them, even though I was just thoroughly disappointed that they would repeatedly refuse to book me with my favorite therapist.
Finally, I was able to terminate my contract with a doctor's note after I *developed a condition which would make getting a massage impossible. That was too much work for me to NOT get a massage. No more massage envy for me, and if you are thinking about going there, even if you get an incredible massage, just remember what happened to me first!view less
