Dental Examination
New patients receive a comprehensive examination which includes a screening for oral cancer, gum and bone disease, blood pressure, and systemic disorders. A routine oral exam is then performed on established patients to determine any changes in dental and health status since the previous visit.
X-rays
It is recommended to have a full set of dental x-rays taken once a year during a regular dental checkup. Most dental insurance plans will cover the cost of x-rays taken once a year and should not be skipped out on. Dental x-rays will expose any problems that might be currently present and can be used to prevent problems that may occur in the near future. Tooth roots, jaw bone and sinuses are all visible with a quick x-ray which allows us to detect problems with the bone surrounding teeth and even allow us to see teeth that have not erupted such as permanent teeth in children or wisdom teeth in adults.
Oral Cancer Screening
During every dental checkup, we will visually check and feel around for any signs of oral cancer. We check for signs of visible lesions inside the mouth and gently feel around the jaw for any lumps or swelling that may be present. Many early signs of oral cancer can go unnoticed by people as they go about their daily lives but we want to make sure that your overall oral health is in as best condition as possible when you see us for a dental checkup.

Teeth Cleaning
As time goes by, plaque that is allowed to sit on your teeth eventually hardens into bacteria harboring tartar. Tartar reacts with the foods you eat and leads to tooth decay. Not only that, the bacteria in tartar can start to smell and is a common cause of bad breath.
Fluoride Treatment
For children between the ages of 6 and 16, we will generally incorporate a fluoride treatment to help strengthen tooth enamel that can prevent cavities. Fluoride treatments are also beneficial for adults.
Dental Sealants
Dental sealants effectively create a protective layer over a tooth's biting surface by sealing off tooth crevices making it impossible for plaque and bacteria to form. Dental sealants also make brushing these teeth much more effective which also keeps the cavities away.
Space Maintainers
If the primary tooth has come out and the permanent tooth is not erupting, a space maintainer may be used. This keeps the adjacent teeth from drifting into the open space, leaving room for the tooth to erupt.

Fillings
Composite fillings are today's modern filling choice. They are made to match your tooth's natural color to make them virtually invisible to notice and are placed onto the tooth by bonding the filling material to the tooth so they do not have the unlikely chance of falling off. Many patients choose to replace their old silver and gold fillings with composite fillings.
Resin Composite
Inlays or onlays can be made of gold, composite resin (plastic) or ceramics. They can last for decades. However, how long they last depends on the material used, the teeth involved, the forces of chewing and how well the patient maintains them with good oral hygiene and regular visits to a dentist.
Veneers
Veneers are a thin, semi-transparent tooth shaped "shell" that are custom made of porcelain. They are permanently bonded to your natural teeth which are located in your "smile zone" to enhance their shape, color, length or size. Veneers can fix gaps between teeth and/or improve the appearance of teeth that are discolored, misshaped or misaligned.
Crowns
A bridge is made up of two or more crowns and is placed in gaps that may occur between your natural teeth. Your natural teeth are used as anchor or abutment teeth to which the bridge is attached. Bridges can be used to restore your smile and your ability to properly chew and speak and help in preventing your natural teeth from moving out of position.
Bridges
A partial denture may not be the best option for replacing missing teeth but it is the least expensive tooth replacement option when compared to a dental bridge or a dental implant.
Dental Bonding
Dental bonding requires the least amount of a tooth's enamel to be removed, thus minimizing discomfort and keeping as much of your tooth's structural integrity as possible.
Restorative Dentistry
There is no need to suffer from a damaged tooth. If your tooth is broken, chipped, or fractured, see Dr. Weisz as soon as possible. Otherwise, your tooth could be damaged further or become infected, possibly causing you to end up losing the tooth. Dr. Weisz can repair your tooth using a variety of methods that will cater to your needs. We also offer oral sedation to those patients that may be a little anxious or nervous about their dental visit.

Root Canal Treatment
A root canal may be needed if the decay has reached the tooth's nerve. Essentially, a root canal involves cleaning out a tooth's infected root, then filling and sealing the canal.
Apicoectomy
Sometimes the infection persists even after root canal therapy. In these cases, an apicoectomy, or root end resection can be performed to remove diseased tissue.

Deep Cleaning
Each person's oral health is unique and the stage and current condition of the teeth and gums will dictate how involved a deep cleaning is as well as how long it takes to heal. Usually a deep cleaning is done one-half of the mouth at a time and healing takes about a day or two.

Dentures
A full arch denture is an intra-oral (inside the mouth) appliance designed to replace a full set of teeth on either the upper or lower arch. Full arch dentures require support from your gum pad and may require the use of special adhesive to help lock the denture into place.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Oral Surgery
After assessing your situation, Dr. Weisz will devise a plan to make room for your canines. Will a typical oral surgery and the assistance of an orthodontist your canine will find their way into their proper place over time.
Jaw Surgery
Our office uses modern computer techniques and three-dimensional models to show you exactly how your surgery will be approached. Using comprehensive facial X-rays and computer video imaging, we can show you how your bite will be improved and even give you an idea of how you'll look after surgery. This helps you understand the surgical process and the extent of the treatment prescribed and to see the benefits of Orthognathic surgery.
Gum Surgery
It depends on the type of surgery involved. For routine extractions or gum surgery, you will probably be able to resume work and a normal life style by the next day. For complex wisdom teeth extractions, you will probably experience pain, swelling and bleeding that may require a few days off the rest and recover..
Osseous Surgery
As periodontal disease progresses there is more and more bone loss around the teeth. This, in turn, results in deeper pockets. At a certain point, they get deep enough that perio maintenance is not effective. The solution is then to surgically reduce the pocket depth. There are two ways to do this, the first is to make a small incision in the tissue so it can be flapped back to expose the bone. It can then be shaped to eliminate the holes the periodontal disease has caused and then reposition the gums with sutures so when healed, healthy 2-3 mm cervices result. The length of time for this surgery with vary depending on the procedure and how many teeth are involved.
Tooth Extractions
Tooth extractions are the most common procedure performed by oral surgeons. Besides the extraction of teeth, many other types of surgical procedures may be needed to ensure health and provide a suitable restoration for a healthy dentition. Oral Surgeons, or Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons are qualified Dentists who have completed an additional 4-6 years of surgical residencies and whose offices are equipped to handle more complex dental cases. We work with highly trained Oral Surgeons in our area who are experts in their field, to provide top care for our patients.
Bone Grafting
This prosthesis is used in special situations for patients who have enough bone in the anterior regions of the lower or upper jaws, but limited amount of bone in the posterior regions and are not candidates for extensive bone grafting.

Braces
More and more adults today are seeking orthodontic treatment to improve their smile. Often times, because adults usually are more compliant in their orthodontic treatment, their results turn out far greater than with a child and/or a teen. Orthodontic treatment is not only designed to improve your smile's appearance, but also, to improve the health of your teeth and gums. If you have crowded or overlapping teeth, you may be unable to reach those areas and run the risk of severe tooth decay, gum and bone loss, irregular wear of tooth enamel and possible TMJ/TMD pain. Recent improvements in traditional braces have resulted in smaller, stronger, more efficient and less conspicuous brackets. Conventional braces with metal brackets are the most familiar; however, clear and tooth-colored ceramic and plastic brackets are now available.

Teeth Whitening
Teeth whitening by a dental professional is key as cavities need to be treated before teeth are whitened. Cavities are problematic because whitening solution can penetrate the cavity allowing decay to reach inner areas of a tooth. People with good dental health may also use a kit to whiten teeth at home. However, in a single office visit, teeth whitening performed by a dental professional will produce brighter results that are more consistent in color across all teeth.
