Went to the Walrus and the Carpenter the other night for happy hour and it was excellent. Big oyster fan and they were stored and served at the perfect temperature. The sardines with an apple slaw, anchovy crostini, and steak tartare were spot on. Perfect texture on the tartare, did sprinkle a little salt on for crunch. Reasonably priced wine list with good selections. Cozy attractive space. We were lucky; the sun was shining through the back doors.
Only suggestion, the place was very busy and the staff were professional, friendly, funny but they seemed stressed. Like they could use one more set of hands out front.
Will be back for many more happy hours. Thanks, for the carefully and beautifully prepared, thoughful, deeply flavored food and perfectly chilled oysters.
