No Menus for this Dinner

Why hire a personal chef when you can meander on over to Pasta Freska where Chef Mike Horri will construct a phenomenal dinner for you and friends after a few minutes of chatter.

LOVE IT!

Pasta Freska is definitely one of my favorite places to eat in Seattle. We went there last night to celebrate our anniversary and they always do a great job creating a fun and memorable experience for us.

There are no menus so part of the fun is the surprise of what the Chef sends to your table. Chef Mike is a very friendly and fun guy who gets to know his customers and understand what you do or don't like to eat. He also has a great sense of humor which adds to the fun.

He first offered us some wine that he picked out that was very well paired with the food we were served. At times we were brought the same food while other times we were served different items. It was fun to try the different food on each others plates. We had an assortment of different Italian dishes throughout the night and we both absolutely loved every single dish!

At the end of the night we had gone through an entire bottle of wine, salad, garlic bread, countless number of various Italian dishes (including eggplant parm, mussels, tuna, meat pasta, lamb, beef,...), a tasty dessert, and a couple glasses of fabulous dessert wine. All of that for $100..! Definitely an incredible value for the night! We can't wait to go back and talk to our friends about it!

Rude

If my group is spending $1400 on dinner, don't give me such a bad time about being the only one to order decaf coffee.

HORRID is an understatement!!!

My family elected to take a group of friends and coworkers here for a holiday celebration - WORST MISTAKE EVER.

I cannot even begin to describe how unprofessional and horrific this experience was - I just hope that, by reading this review, you're able to avoid this restaurant at all costs!

Our group arrived at Pasta Freska this afternoon expecting to be the only group there, as they're closed on Sundays except for private events (which we had booked with them well in advance). However, when we showed up, we were informed that they had booked another party there and the excuse was that ""we hadn't given him the right contact number."" Really? Because they'd been able to contact us several times for the planning of the event. He then informed our group that we'd be going over to the Swedish Cultural Center nearby - but didn't bother to let us know that meant that we'd have our food DRIVEN back and forth, because there was no kitchen there!

And that whole promise that was made during the initial tasting about 'asking what people like and don't like'? And customizing the menu to people's tastes? Ha. Instead we all received the exact same meal (cold, more often than not) and had to use the SAME PLATE for each of the six courses. There's nothing like enjoying eggplant Parmesan - soggy by the time it was driven up to us - chicken Marsala, and fish - all on the same plate, all consumed cold. What a treat!

Dessert was no better - the ice cream part was soup by the time it arrived, and they didn't bring everyone individual desserts, but instead put down desserts for us to ""share"".

And of course, you never see a menu with pricing for the experience, so this horrific event still set us back over $1,000 for the evening - what a complete rip-off. I'd never go back here and if anyone ever asks my opinion, I'll emphatically tell them to steer clear of this place at all costs. Do yourself a favor and go to ANY other Italian place in Seattle - or go to McDonald's. You'd get better, fresher food and much more professional service. Avoid Pasta Freska at ALL costs!

Hardly worth it...

We recently went to this restaurant and found the atmosphere to be relaxed and fun. The concept of ""no menu"" was intriguing and different, and since we don't mind trying almost anything, it was AOK with us. The food was good, but frankly it was nothing special. We had a particularly bad experience with the seared tuna. Three of the four diners at our table had a serving of tuna that was old or bad, while the fourth serving was fresh and tasty. Sometimes we had different items at the same table. The prices are not posted anywhere, so you don't know what the cost of wine or dessert is going to be until the end. As it turns out, the basic wine served was quite pricey - great way to jack up the bill unnecessarily. The intervals between courses were far too lengthy, and there were times when we were tired of waiting and it became boring. I did like the unique experience of the non-menu, but the mediocre quality of the food, the expense, and the lagging service weren't worth the cost. There are too many other restaurants to explore to ever return here again.

wonderful

Good value. There were four in our party with dinner for everyone (we were all quite full) two bottles of wine and 2 beers our check was only $180. The only drawback I saw was since it was our first time we were a tiny bit afraid of what the bill was going to be because there was no menu and the food kept coming and coming. Food is simple, fresh, rustic...good. Service was wonderfully slow paced, non-intrusive & polite. Being able to enjoy dinner on the patio on a warm Seattle night was the biggest plus for me.

Excellent Atmosphere, great entertainment and food!

I have been going to Pasta Freska for over 6 years now. It is my favorite place to dine in seattle. It is a wonderful hole in the wall where the book really doesn't fit the cover. You will be delightfully surprised at the wonderful dishes that Mike has come up with. His wine selection is also one of the best in town and is low in price! On top of everything you can't beat hanging out with Mike in his restuarant. You seriously get a show with dinner! I highly recommend to anyone who is wanting an unforgettable dining experience.

Great experience - fun & tasty every time

Pasta Freska is my husband's and my favorite place to go for any reason we can manufacture. Yes, it's not fancy, but without fail the service is friendly and professional, the wine is great, and Josh, the chef, is happy to make special ""veggie"" dishes that are delicious (as is everything). Mike (the owner) is great - what's not to love about walking in and having the owner hand you a glass of chianti while you wait a few minutes for a table.

If you haven't been here, it's a great place to take out of town guests for a treat that they will tell everyone else in your family about....
