Dental Examination
An initial examination is required for every new patient. This may be limited or comprehensive, depending on the nature of the referral. Please note that for a Comprehensive Periodontal Exam, an FMX is preferred. Please include with your referral any relevant clinical information, such as periocharting, case notes, etc.

Teeth Cleaning
Some patients require specialized teeth cleaning which our periodontal hygienists perform. If this is the case, we often recommend hygiene visits that alternate between our office and your general dentist's office. We encourage all patients to maintain a close relationship with their general dentist in order to receive optimal overall care.

Crowns
If you feel your smile is "gummy" or if you think your teeth are too small, crown lengthening may be right for you. Crown lengthening is a procedure performed by your periodontist to reshape the gum line to improve the aesthetics of your smile by exposing more of your teeth.

Restorative Dentistry

Root Canal Treatment
Conventional bridges and dentures are not fixed to the bone, and can therefore be unstable. This can make it difficult to eat or smile with confidence. Implants not only look more natural, but feel and act more like normal teeth, with a stronger biting force. And because they don't directly rely on neighboring teeth for support, implants don't compromise the health of your natural teeth. In fact, bridges are only expected to last seven to ten years, even less with root canals, whereas implants will typically last a lifetime.

Periodontal Surgery
I grew up in Porto Alegre, Brazil and was educated as a dentist there. Later, I moved to Israel, where I met my husband and practiced dentistry (mostly pediatric patients) for nine years. I'm happy to be working in the United States as a surgical assistant to Dr. Massoth where I enjoy working with our older patients, who seem especially committed to homecare and improving their oral health. I also appreciate the opportunity to assist with, and learn about, periodontal surgery from someone with Dr. Massoth's expertise.

Dentures
Implants are versatile. If you are only missing one tooth, one implant plus one replacement tooth will do the trick. If you are missing several teeth in a row, a few strategically placed implants can support a permanent bridge (a set of replacement teeth). Similarly, if you have lost all of your teeth, a full bridge or full denture can be permanently fixed in your mouth with a strategic number of implants.

Tooth Extractions
Ridge Augmentation
Ridge augmentation uses bone and tissue-grafting procedures to fill in the indented area of the jaw and gums, leaving you with a smooth gum line that coexists with your restoration or dental implant.
Bone Grafting
The goal of bone grafting is to encourage the body to rebuild the bone and other structures that attach a tooth to the jaw. First, your periodontist will separate the gums from your teeth in order to gain access to the roots and bone. The roots will be thoroughly cleaned, and the holes in the bone will be filled with a graft material that usually consists of your own bone. After this process is completed, your periodontist will put the gums back in place and stitch them together. Over the next few months, the grafted material will be encouraged to grow, which will fill in for lost bone and soft tissue.
