Honda Downtown changed my perception of car dealers

    Provided by Judy's Book

Kristen in Service is the best. She worked with a mechanic to figure out and fix a problem with my Fit brakes and had us out of the shop in half the time we had expected.

Friendly but typical car dealer upsell

    Provided by Judy's Book

I guess I'm not too disappointed because when I compare to other car dealerships I consider my experience above average. But they are a dealership that pulls out all the typical tricks and up-sell. Just need to do your research and stand your ground.

    Service Experience was not fun

    Provided by Judy's Book

My service experience at this store was not fun. I had to wait for a very long time and then found out that after all that waiting, the problem was still not fixed. At first they told me that the repair was under warranty, but then later changed their statement and charged me. I really did not like this.

    Nice no hassle sale

While in the market for a 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid I requested several quotes on-line from all of the various... read more call hassling me to come into the dealership. I was fortunate to have James Bennett of Honda of Seattle respond to my initial e-mail. He was courteous, professional and above all, patient. I stopped in for numerous times to test drive and look at the car as I debated which color I wanted. Over the course of 3 months, James never pressured me to buy. He made me a fair offer which he stood by until I was ready to buy. When that day came, I showed him a quote from another dealer that was $200 less. While I did not expect him to beat it but was hoping he would match it. He said he would beat it by another $100. Because I knew both MSRP and invoice an was paying just a few hundred dollars over invoice I knew I was getting a great deal. The process went very smoothly and there was never a pressured sell for unnecessary add ons, warranties, etc. I highly recommend Honda of Seattle!

    Honda of Seattle

I bought my car from these folks 5 years ago and I've been happy with the follow up service I've received. It's not quite as personable as what I used to get from my former Kirkland Infiniti dealership (I had a used J30) where the gal (Linda) helping run the service department and I became very friendly and she knew me by name, car, and more. Heck, it's been 5 years since I... read more had an Infiniti and I still remember her name! I'm not sure if she's still there but if she is I highly recommend the service department. The Honda folks don't know me that well but they do offer online booking of service appointments and some other services which I find very convenient. I've never had anyone be pushy there except for when I bought the car one guy (the proverbial pushy sales manager) did try to push stuff I didn't need. But, I was also a savvy consumer and knew what I did and didn't want. Financing wasn't an issue because I'd taken care of that in advance. It's always important to have your research done ahead of going to the lot and to let the sales staff know your intentions. You might head off a lot of the pushy tactics that way.

    The Best in Class

    Provided by Judy's Book

Ha, they offer the best deals on cars hands down on the GROUND! The cars are very solid as they last for years and years. They warrenty plan is great because you can drive the heck out of them and still have them replace your faults. But don't take advantage of this because it won't last too long if you do. They also have a great staff because they'll make an effort to sell you a car even if you are just looking around.

    No Hassle Experience

    Provided by Judy's Book

The friendly people working at Honda of Seattle do not push you into buying a car, but instead work with you to help you find exactly what you need. They told me about the specifications of each model I was thinking of along with the price breakdowns. They also helped me research the safety and maintenance of the cars. Before I left, they also suggested good gas stations and told me not to mix premium with regular too much.

    Don't Believe the Hype

    Provided by Judy's Book

It's hard to know where to begin. Scuzzy experience w/buying the car. But what really irked me is the incessant and biased way they do their "customer service" surveys. While I was filling out the paperwork to buy the car, the salesman told me that if I didn't give him "excellent" ratings on all of the categories in the survey I'd be getting in the mail (which I was informed about oh, 50... read more times, and was stamped on all of the paperwork and emphasized in plaques on the wall) that he wouldn't get paid - that he's just commission based and needed me to give him a good rating. Hmm. No pressure, no bias. Which pissed me off because he was just about the slimiest guy I'd ever met and I didn't trust him at all and left feeling poorly about my experience there anyway. Then there were phone calls - asking the same questions as were on the paper survey. And the calls came after EVERY little interaction I had w/them - be it to get my license plates put on, getting my oil changed, anything - there were phone calls to me at work - always with the same, totally biased questions - "were you COMPLETELY SATISFIED with...". And they'd always call me at work - regardless of my request that they stop using that number. This last time when I took my car in for an oil change, they took 45 minutes to pull my car around when I came to pick it up. The service staff just ignored me standing there - said they were bringing it around when I'd check - and finally a guy brings is up and says my battery doesn't work, the car had died, and I need to replace it. It was fine when I brought it - so I protested, and then overheard another service person telling my representative that they'd left my lights on and the battery died, so they had to charge it before bringing it around. Why tell me I have to replace my battery when you made it die??? No apologies. And of course, this time I did not get a call to complete a survey. They don't want your feedback - they don't want to have information to improve their services - they want your glowing survey to get those lovely plaques that say they are exceptional in service. And I will never buy another car from them, and I will never return for their service department.
