The food was delightful and creative, with complex tastes and artistic presentations. The octopus appetizer -- which they thoughtfully split for us -- was perfectly cooked and paired (with sauces and tasty nibbles and such). Both of our entrees and a cheese plate were two thumbs up. <br> <br>The ambience was surprisingly wonderful at the kitchen view ""bar"" -- we were initially apprehensive about sitting there, but it was very nice being able to watch the dishes be created, and the ""bar"" is removed just enough to not feel exposed, and it was still perfect for an intimate dinner for two. <br> <br>It appeared that the cook who made each dish was the one that brought it to the table and explained what was in it, how it was made, etc., as each dish was delivered by a different (very knowledgeable) person, though we still had our server, who was perfectly attentive. <br> <br>We can't wait to go back!

Disappointing food, we had the hand-made pasta with lobster and bacon, and guess what? All you could taste was the bacon. The delicate lobster (which was hard to find a piece of) was totally overpowered. Then I had the halibut, which was overcooked the top was seared so much it became a crisp cake-like topping, the fish was totally dry. The portions were pretentiously small and overpriced it, reminded me of Citrus in LA in the late eighties, dishes with fewer vegetables than you would dare to serve to a five year old. Decor is subjective, but for me the Stars Wars themed oversized white plastic chairs and tables, against the beautiful historic features of this house just did not jive, lacking neither artistry nor character.\r <br> Call me old fashioned but at these prices please give me a white tablecloth! Not your romantic or impressive dining situation. The service was excellent; the white wine we ordered hadn?t been chilled so we were brought a glass of French sparkling wine, compliments of the house, which was very good. It helped a little to get over the awful atmosphere in the dining room, no ambiance whatsoever, walls begging for some art work and some interesting lighting. We were ready to leave, and I visited the ladies room only to spot a lovely outside dining area! No one had offered us this option, not when I made the reservation or upon arriving, if I could at least have sat outside I might not be writing this. I expressed my frustration about the outdoor dining option and they were full of apologies and insisted we give them our email address, and they did of course already have my phone number from the booking. But that was weeks ago, and we have heard nothing, which would be fine if expectation had not been set. At the end of the day I felt like we had paid big bucks to sit in a sort of quasi trendy university-district-type eating establishment, but without the charm. So sad to say, we won?t go back. \r

I ate at crush last night, and it was one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had. For the price of the meal, it was not the level of quality it should have been. 24 dollars for mediocre beef ribs, and 24 dollars for a small portion of what should be cheap seafood. The staff was friendly, but the service was poor. The gratuity for our group was automatically 20%, which was not deserved. We also requested a bottle of wine from the menu, which they did not have, and they replaced it with a screw-top bottle that was low quality for a high price. Overall, it felt like a nothing more than a rip-off, and I left very unsatisfied after spending over $800 with a group of only 7 people. If they are going to charge as much as they do, I expect much more. I have never written a negative review for a restaurant before, but I certainly do not recommend crush to anybody.

The dinner last evening at Crush was sublime! From the first bite of the gougere to the last bite of dessert, everything was a flavor sensation. The cocktails were dangerously tasty, the plating was attractive, the starters and entrees were varied and interesting and the flavor combinations were absolutely delectable.\r <br>\r <br>The wine list is quite extensive with many good choices; I only wish they would add prosecco to it!\r <br>\r <br>Thursday evening business was steady without being crushingly busy, and the servers were attentive and knowledgeable. A wonderful experience all around!

This was our fist visit to Crush. We arrived 30 minutes before our reservation, but were warmly received and immediately seated. The servers patiently waited the 30 minutes it took for our fourth dinner parter to arrive, checking on us periodically but being neither overbearing or absent.\r <br>\r <br>Our server was incredibly knowledable about both the food and the wine. He described in detail the flavors in the dishes that interested us, as well as the cooking process used to create the flavors. \r <br>\r <br>We started with the beet salad, the hamachi appetizer, and the pinata apple and blue cheese salad with hazelnuts. All the starters were great. For our main course we ordered the fluke, the shortribs and the lamb, all of which were fantastic. The shortribs were particularly fabulous, tender and deliciously rich and complex. Each of the dishes was beautifully presented, ""a work of art"" according to my husband, who rarely comments on such things.\r <br>\r <br>We hung around and chatted after dinner for at least 45 minutes and were graciously taken care of with water refills, but never did we feel rushed to leave.\r <br>\r <br>The restaurant setting was also very cool, especially the upstairs bathroom with its clawfoot tub (really!).\r <br>\r <br>We'll definitely visit Crush again.

In terms of top notch Seattle restaurants, Crush is one of the finest. Crush has a very inspired and memorable menu, diverse cuisines, superb service, and a great wine list. At the same time, its modish seats are not perfectly comfortable and the location doesn't offer the most phenomenal view. Great place for a special date but not the best location / ambiance for a *real* special date (aka Anniversaries, Valentine's, etc.)

We were here for dinner last month and the food was great for the most part. My seabass was on the salty side. The best dish was the pasta (very small portion-3 bites), hand made and delightful touch with the caviar. The samples that were brought out were nice. Staff could work on being more classy (hostess had extremely low-breast out summer dress) for this high end dining experience.

It seems that when a restaurant has a mandatory 20% gratuity for a party of 5 or more and you have 5 or more people in your party you are asking for trouble. \r <br>I will preface what I am saying by sharing that I have been to Crush before and we had a great experience and that is why we went back, however, based on this last experience I think we will find other places to patronize.\r <br>\r <br>I found the wine markup very high especially knowing that there would be an automatic 20% gratuity added on top of the markup. \r <br>\r <br>Our waitress didn?t seem to have a lot of patience or time for us and we all felt a little rushed to place our order and get through the meal.\r <br>\r <br>Our first course was brought out and we were eager to dig in. While many of the dishes tasted good none of them were hot, most were barely lukewarm. We had the Foie Gras and Sweetbreads on our last visit and had them again this visit, however they were prepared differently and not nearly as good. As I mentioned before they brought us an amuse bouche which was creative, beautiful and delicious. Our main courses were brought out and as we dug in many of us were sadly disappointed. My $30 sous vide fish that looked like a piece of processed fish tasted a lot like processed fish cake and was only served with a few sea beans. It was very disappointing. Some of our other party did enjoy their food but were not a fan of the food not being hot and not being served with a starch and in some of the cases the serving size itself. \r <br>\r <br>My dessert was the best part of the meal and the most generous portion. Although the desserts are not inexpensive it was very good.\r <br>\r <br>We have continued to talk about our meal since dining at crush but none of the comments have been good ones. \r
