Calling this a "Taco Lounge" makes it sound like a fast-food place. This is a sit-down, casual eatery with great breakfasts and three happy hours a day. I've tried the evening HH, it's a little bit of a meat-market and I'm not much on ladies w/tatoos, but it's still fun. The appetizer menu changes occasionally...when I was there I had a duck enchilada washed down with Cazadores...it was great. Perfect seasoning. The breakfast happy hour is the main reason to go, though. The no longer put roasted corn into their jalapeno-spiked country gravy, which is a shame, but the AM menu still rocks. Try the benedicts or the carne asada plate. I've also put away the biscuits & gravy and the chicken fried steak & eggs, both excellent.
I have been eating here wiht my family since I was about 9 years old. The staff is great, we know them by name, and they know us. The owner is a bright sweet lady. The wait staff is awesome, always smiling and ready to serve. We normally have Gustavo as our water, who is very funny! He knows exactly what we want to order and exactly how we like it. I work in the hospitality industry and when people come and ask me for a good mexican restaurant I give them directions to El Charro. I have never ever had any bad experiences the there with food or staff. I'll be coming around with my friends and family as long as thier around.
Awesome new Mexican restaurant with excellent food in the north end, lurking in the shadows of the Holman/Greenwood 5-way. Next to Piper's Pub. Owner Heron has the menu dead on. All the usual fare, very pleasantly presented, the taste will bring you back. Chimichanga is is a treat - very light and tasty. Enchiladas, burrito, chili relleno - all outstanding. Strangely, almost purposely drab decor may attempt to deter you - remember it's brand new! Persevere... make it to the rear of the establishment, and what do you find? A hidden cocktail bar to claim as your own. Rudy will set you up.
