I travel a lot to major cities in the West Coast and one of the more important tasks in my to-do list is to find the best barbershop in the area, as getting a fine haircut in a fine setting elevates a gentleman's grooming experience under the hands of a master haircutter. I base my barbershop selection mainly on its crew's physical appearance and hair presentation (as I believe that one person is inclined to groom another in a manner similar to how he/she grooms himself/herself), in the kind of clientele the salon attracts (as I believe that the type of gentlemen getting groomed in a salon speaks volumes re the salon's reputation in the community), and in the salon's 'feel' (as I believe getting a haircut in a fine setting, as I stated earlier, elevates the experience). All there criteria are met, even exceeded, by the 5th Ave Barber & Salon. In the past, I mostly allowed men to cut my hair because I believed a man knew better how to groom another. But, after having my hair cut with grace and precision by a well-mannered lady barber named Dee Phan at the 5th Ave Barber & Salon, let me just say that that belief had been proven wrong. I now see lady barbers in a different light. Also, I appreciate owner Rick's warm welcome and our interesting conversation about the local scene. It is therefore with full confidence that I give 5th Ave Barber & Salon five stars for the stellar experience (and the fine haircut) it gave me.
My hair has been damaged over the course of my stay in beautiful Seattle, WA. Finding the RIGHT stylist has not come at a cost, I'll tell you that. The breakage had become unbearable! As I looked for a hair stylist in Seattle, one of my co-workers with marvelous hair referred me to Lorie and her hair salon. Lorie is the consummate professional. She reads you like a book! If you're tired, she's lets you rest (after asking and bring you nice warm glass of tea). If you're engaged and up for a chat, she's down for that too. But, she's no chatty cathy (i.e., annoying). Seriously, it's refreshing to have an intelligent, thought-provoking conversation with your stylist! As for my hair, it is in the best health EVER. I've been getting relaxers (straighteners) for 17 years and this is the first time I can honestly say that it is at its healthiest. It is strong, healthy and just fab. What I love about Lorie is the fact that she does't just do a great job, she EDUCATES you on how to maintain your hair and KEEP it in great condition. It's one thing to send me out looking great, but TEACH me how to keep it that way. I'm not sure if she has room for more clients, but I am immensely happy that I got in the door as I wouldn't go anywhere else! I know it's selfish, but oh well! I've got the best stylist in Seattle. Thanks Lorie!
I've been going to Amy's Hair Salon for almost two years and have done the Yuko Hair Straightening system for many years. I thought that was great until Amy suggested the new Zerran Reform System. Zerran Reform is the greatest! It has straightened my hair but still left some body in it, and it looks so natural! With the Yuko system, my hair was so flat for weeks that it felt like if just stuck to my head. With Reform, my hair is just as straight, but a little natural body look and shine. Amy does an excellent job with Reform and I would highly recommend the Reform system over Yuko if you want just a little bounce and body, not totally flat on your head look. Reform uses natural products and is also a permanent hair straightening method, with no slight after smell like you would get from the Yuko method. As a Yuko customer for years, I am now switching to Reform for a more natural straightening, both in look, feel, and shine. I highly recommend Amy's Hair Salon and Reform - both are in a class above others!
