Marino's is a family owned restuarant that has the best fish you will eat anywhere. Mr. Marino's batter recipe is very unique, very crunchy and wonderfully tasty. He also has battered Chicken and battered hot dogs. The hot dogs are called Crunchy dogs or battered dogs and they are on a stick similar to a corn dog but so much better. They also have the best hush puppies you will ever taste. I do not even like hush puppies but I can't get enough of Marino's hush puppies. The prices are very reasonable and they also have all you can eat specials daily. In addition to the wonderful food that they prepare, the service and atmosphere is great too. The hospitality of the entire Marino family is beyond belief. Even in the busiest time of day, Mrs. Marino has helped me carry my bags of food out to the car when she saw that I had my young Grandson to carry. I don't live in Columbus, so whenever I can make it to Columbus, I stock up on fish, chicken, crunchy dogs and hush puppies and take it home and it stays nice and crunchy even reheated. There is only one problem that I have found with Marino's and that problem is that it is a special one of a kind restuarant and there is ONLY ONE MARINO'S and I live three hours away from it. There needs to be more of them located throughout the United States so everyone could experience their great tasting food. But of course, it just wouldn't be the same without the entire Marino family there to greet you. If you live near Columbus or get the chance to visit there, you just have to go there to eat. It is very close to Ohio State University.
Small Restaurant, Big Flavor! My wife and I had lunch at Skillet, and we were very impressed. This intimate restaurant serving locally produced food has a nice vibe. There were families with babies, people in their sixties and young couples. The tables were close enough that we were able to talk to the couple at the next table, and they turned out to be regulars at Skillet. In spite of being packed, it was not too loud, and the music was mostly unobtrusive. I take apple cider for granted, but the cider served at Skilliet is the best I've ever had. Not too sweet, with a wonderful flavor ($3 for a tall glass). My "pot roast" shredded turkey was moist and yummy, and the gravy tasted homemade, as did the mashed potatoes. My wife's pulled pork was also fine, and her macaroni was spiced an unexpected kick of hot pepper. Great flavor, and not salty. Our entrees each cost around $13. The path to the one bathroom is through the kitchen, and I noticed that the kitchen is spotlessly clean. We'll be back! Michael Armstrong Bexley, Ohio
OMG I was in downtown Columbus for a buisness last week, for I originaly work in Circleville. During a conversation my fellow workers were having I overheard them mention this Mexican restaurant located on broad street. The name Mexica caught my attention so i decided to give it a try since I had some free time to spare I decided to give it a try. Its a nice cozy joint with real mexican cooks and a real mexican ambient. Tunes as well as the art they have on their walls had an original mexican image just like their name. The food was grea, but the salsa bar they had made my burrito taste extrordinary delicious. Great place to eat, I will definitly return if im ever around downtown Columbus. P.S It makes me sad to see these minorities strive so hard for the american dream, only to have the american government revoke their registration. Lets unite and support them please pour a dollar on their tip bucket.
