My boyfriend and I were moving from Edmond and Penn & Memorial, respectively, into what may be the cutest pink house in the Castro. The only issue was: it was a third floor walk-up, so we called Apple Moving Company. I initially spoke with Randy on the phone, who gave me an estimate over the phone and confirmation via email. We booked the movers around 10 days in advance, and had to opt for a Monday move-in vs. our original plan of Saturday, which is understandable based on the short lead-time. Randy quoted us 5to 7 hours with 3 movers, which was $96/hour-- which was to move two separate apartments into one. (Also, their minimum. Additional time is counted in 30 min. increments.) On moving day, our three-man crew consisted of Russell (who handled all the paperwork and was the "main driver"), George and Anthony. Our starting window was from 8-10am, and after phoning me a little bit before 8am, they arrived at the first apartment at 8:30am. They took 2 hour to pack up my boyfriend's apartment and arrived at my place by 10:50am, and then the new apartment around 12:30. What the guys will do: disassemble bed frames (and any bulky items, such as our dinging table.) and will wrap/tape them up in blankets for protection, as well as re-assemble at your new apartment, provide mattress covers (for $7/each), provide wardrobe boxes for all of your clothes on hangers, and also provide any extra boxes for things you may have forgotten to pack. Note, they will make you empty the drawers on your desk and night stands and a few other item into boxes (I never did with previous moves) so that is where you may incur box charges. I will say that these guys work pretty quickly, and I did NOT envy them as they hauled these heavy boxes up three flights of stairs in our new apartment. Towards the end, it was mostly two guys doing the moving, while one re-assembled furniture. I had to unpack the wardrobe boxes (no problem) At the end of the move-in, not a thing was scratched, our furniture was assembled and we both had the energy to unpack for the remainder of the day. HOWEVER, in total, this whole thing took 6 hours. SIX HOURS. While I do not doubt the work of the three men, I was a bit disappointed that the quote was off a little from the original conversations I had with Randy. It was a very hot day to the men's credit. In the end, we paid $800+tip to the hard-working crew. I hope I don't have to move anytime soon, but, for those who are looking for movers, I'd say give Apple a call as they will handle your move very well.
Best experience using movers I have ever had. I must admit, I was nervous after finding some negative reviews a couple days before my move but it was too late for me to find another moving company. The movers called me when they were on the way out the morning of my move. When they arrived, they were well spoken and clean-cut. I felt so comfortable I left the movers while I went to get the key to my new place. They were great about pointing out existing damage to my furniture before they wrapped my furniture. I have never seen anyone clear out a home so quick and carefully. They didn't appear to struggle with any of my furniture. The pricing was exactly as explained over the phone and on the paper work I signed. I would recommend this company to anyone moving. I am not one to leave a review because I just don't have much time in my day but after the way these folks treated me, I feel I have to let everyone know the good side to this company. Thanks William
I used these guys years ago when moving and they were great then. So they were my first call when moving again. Rusty and Cody were our movers and I can't say enough nice words about these two individuals. First off, they were prompt! Secondly, they were extremely nice and easy to get along with. They were professional in the way they moved my stuff. Never once did I hear anything hit a doorway or wall as they were moving some rather large items. Which is kinda important when moving. Thirdly, these fellas were fast. Whenever you pay someone by the hour, time matters. I never felt unsure about the way they secured my items in the truck. As my move will be temporary, I will be using Discount Movers again in the near future. I would recommend this company (and we'll ask for Rusty and Cody again) to any family members or friends I know. Thanks for making a stressful move a lot easier!
