Best Korean Cold Noodle Naeng Myun Place in Ktown!

CLOSED ON SUNDAYS & AFTER 9 P.M. on MON-SAT!!! I just had to make sure you all got that 'cos I've gone like 2xs - once at 9:30 p.m. on a Saturday night & once around noon on a Sunday day. I was so annoyed at myself for not calling first to check their hours. S...moretill as good as it gets for chic hwe naeng myun (that black noodle) with spicy raw fish. They serve it with a side of icy broth from the regular mool naeng myun. And of course we can't forget the King Kimchi Dumplings (kimchi wang mandoo)! I can barely hold it up in my chopsticks to dip it into my soy sauce+vinegar concoction...then barely make it to the plate to take a bite. It's ridiculously gianormous! They have a warm meaty broth that we self-served ourselves after the meal near the ice water pitcher by the cashier - yummy goodness! Something about having naeng myun on a hot day is like people who want watermelon or an icy cold beer on a front porch during a nice summer day ...something about the heat brings out the craving for naeng myun for me. Wait...it's November...eh, it was over 90 degrees in SoCal this past week. That's winter weather for you in SoCal! They used to have 2 other locations but both of them disappeared. I always like this location on Serrano & Olympic better than the other 2 any way. One thing to note, the parking lot in front in the evenings becomes valet only - complimentary - tip only - but it's still valet. view less

I love this place. Occasionall...

I love this place. Occasionally it can be hit or miss. For instance the last time I was there I ordered the sweet and sour chicken and it was all dark meat which i hate and my husbands chicken dish was all white meat. Needless to say I liked his better so next time I would ...morespecify whether I want white or dark meat. Also, they have brought out the wrong rice before. But all that aside I LOVE the orange peel beef and the rib appetizer. They have some tasty drinks too. They also have lunch bowls until 4pm that come with a bowl of soup and are way cheaper than a dinner entree. This place is made for sharing - in fact they give you each a plate and put all the meals in the center of the table, so it's great for a group outing, trying new stuff, or saving $ by ordering fewer meals than people! What I really love about this particular location is the service and the location. Perfect dining spot after nice shopping experience at the Beverly Center mall. view less

You can't argue with the huge ...

You can't argue with the huge popularity of this place - it's an institution. The good news is that the food portions are VERY generous and pretty darned tasty. It's just not *great* - other Chinese restaurants in the Chinatown area can lay claim to that title. But the he...moreck with semantics - you'll enjoy your eating experience, particularly if you get the very sweet slippery shrimp. If you eat at the restaurant, don't order one entree per person, unless you plan on taking a lot of food home. This is meant to be shared. So experiment, grab a few entrees and everyone have a taste. Fun. Be aware that the line to get in is typically very long, due to the popularity of the place. I prefer to order take-out, where I can enjoy Yang Chow food in my home with my friends. Always a fun treat. Our friends from London insist on us ordering Yang Chow food whenever they come to town!view less
