Not California Pizza Kitchen but not too shabby

I stopped in yesterday with a group of co-workers on our lunch hour and it was all of ours first time their. The restaurant theme is cute, music selection is horrible. I would prefer light rock or top 40 not infused with dance club music. The music was a little off putting. ...moreThe young lady that waited on us was very polite and friendly. She was very helpful. The young man that also helped us was also polite and nice but didn't seem too interested in being at work. The food was good. I had a pizza and the sauce was decent but could use some more flavor. It's a little blander than I prefer and I tried the spicy marinara my friend had gotten a sample of and it wasn't anything to write home about either. They should call it mild rustic instead of spicy rustic. The name is misleading also. I was hoping for some pasta since it is called Italian Kitchen but they only had pizza, calzone or salad to choose from. The dough was also bland and too thin. They only offer thin crust and I like something a little thicker. I gave 5 star because the customer service was exceptional comparibly with most other quick service places. Based completely on the food I would give that 3 stars. It needs some work. A more flavorful sauce would help things a lot but for 7 bucks you get what you pay for. view less

5 Star Resturant

This place is AMAZING, they have a great set up, beautifully decorated, top of the line. The waiters are very friendly and helpful, they are very knowledgeable about all the food and drink selections. We had a party of 20 so we were in a private room with two superior waiters...more, anything we asked for we received in no more then 1 minute later. The food is outstanding, we had the crab dip, the rock shrimp and the crusted green beans as a appitizer, the rock shrimp wasnt my fav but it was still pretty good, the crab dip and crusted green beans are a must. I had the Turf & Surf as my entree it was outstanding, the steak was cooked perfect with great flavor and the shrimp were HUGE it was served on top of a bed of garlic mashed potatoes and we also had their skillet mac & cheese =D it was all VERYYY good. We finished off dinner with the chocolate cake....OH MY GOODNESS, it is heaven, its pretty rich but its served with a rasberry drizzle its a must also. If you are a martini person the dirty martinis are good to! I have nothing bad to say about this place at all, the valet was very good itself and it was complimentery. (Tips only). When in Dallas Hibiscus is a must, be prepared to spend a good chunck of money but it is allll WELL worth it!view less

Hard for me to rate, but very good

As a foodie who loves eating out, York Street is hard for me to rate. The service is great, the food is great and the atmosphere is great, but relative to the the expense it is hard to judge. It is a very expensive restaurant and they only serve around 10 tables in a cute ...moreand cozy house. I try to judge my restaurants on some sort of scale to value because I don't want to end up giving good reviews to all nice expensive restaurants and bad reviews to less expensive restaurants because of course for the expense they can afford better food, service, etc. York Street is a tough one for me. It is a great restaurant and they do basically everything well. Their menu is creative and their food is very good. Their service is very attentive, etc. etc. I think I take it down to a very good 4 stars, because I do feel it is just a little overpriced for even as well as they do do everything. And I also feel that there is at times there is a little ego that bleeds through in their service that comes from patrons consistently telling them how great they are and how cute and cozy and wonderful their restaurant is. view less
