I started practicing Martial Arts when I was 13, in Scotland, where practicing Martial Arts is not common. The system in which I trained was called SooYang Do, a relatively new Korean-based system founded in Scotland. Only when I moved to Katy and joined Meng's Martial Arts did I realize how many things the other system lacks, due to the extremely in-depth teachings of the instructors at Meng's. Although at first, I was interested in more acrobatic styles and looked at other schools, I fell in love with how and what I learned at Meng's on my first day. Within the first two months after joining, I had been exposed to, and had learned more than I had during the two years of training SooYang Do. I was blown away by how many small details there are in every technique. One of the most important characteristics of Meng's is that it is not confined to one style like Taekwondo or Judo or any other Martial Art that specializes in certain techniques. The instructors teach the concepts and patterns of techniques which can then be applied to any Martial Art, style, or system. It's truly fantastic. No matter if one decides to start training Martial Arts to learn to defend oneself in real life, compete in tournaments and competitions, or simply to increase one's fitness and health, Meng's Martial Arts of Katy offers it all. I recommend Meng's to everyone.
Excellent on every level! Master Cho and his team are AMAZING! I have two children who attend Tae Kwon Doh classes at this center and both my husband and I have been very happy with the consistent enthusiasm, discipline and expertise that all the instructors demonstrate. My children have gained confidence, respect for others and an interest in pushing themselves physically while having fun at the same time. Master Cho and his staff all have heart and soul for the TKD discipline and for their students- (both young and old). The instructors are: dedicated, profoundly knowledgeable, and each offer their special talents and unique contributions. I would like to mention specifically: Master Cho: Highly skilled 7th degree black belt-(owner), who is able to teach the kids and the adults with an ease and skill that comes from over 30 + years of training. He is: patient, kind, humble, strong and he teaches respect, hard work and strong values to his students. His positive energy, discipline and enthusiasm is a gift to his students! Instructor Valentine: is very positive, respectful and teaches the kids this value in action and deed. He is a highly dedicated teacher who easily relates to his students and is well liked. He is also extremely skilled - with several levels of black belt! Praneet and Pepper Franklin
My husband and I joined Master Rick’s Talium about a month ago and we absolutely love it. In this short period I have seen positive changes in my overall health and I am really grateful. Now it has become a part of our routine. Master Rick’s classes are so much fun. Just like Master Rick, I intend to become younger by the day in spirit, mind and body by practicing Taekwondo :) He motivates every student to become better and stronger in every class. Sometimes, instructors from other Talium schools come to the Houston Talium to teach and demonstrate – the demonstrations are surely remarkable and inspirational. The adults class is at 7 PM every day. When we arrive at the class, sometimes if the previous class is still going on, you get to see kids (all ages) learning Taekwondo – being energetic and focused and having fun. Master Rick is really good with kids. His classes are not just about kicking and punching, but education of the mind as well. He also teaches the kids to be more disciplined and respectful to everybody. I am sure all the parents of those kids are really glad to have found a teacher like Master Rick. I would highly recommend anybody (no age bar) who wants to learn Taekwondo to join Master Rick’s Talium. It is never too late to become a student of Taekwondo.
