As someone that grew up in the Mid-Del area, I was raised eating Chinese food from Mandarin, a little family-owned restuarant on S.E. 44th. Over the years however, the quality of Mandarin's food has seemed to wane; everything all of a sudden seemed very greasy, and everything was coming with less meats and vegetables. Long Zhu, which as been open around six months (as of 4/08) is just the opposite. Their food is made to order from scratch (which unlike most Chinese restaurants nowadays means processed stuff heated up in a wok); when you order fried rice with beef or pork, there's actually big pieces of beef or pork in it. The egg rolls are homemade. Everything is served hot. There's a ton of a variety, and you get large portions of everything. And to top it all off, the prices are very reasonable. The only drawback that I've encourted thus far is that as yet, they only take cash. Since I never carry cash, this is often an issue for me. Otherwise, it's fantastic, and if you're ever in the Del City area, or just really want quality Chinese food, and I highly recommend it!
Ok, hats off to Sherlocks. They have been around since I first started going out dancing in the late 1970's, and this is still my favorite place to dance. The crowd varies from night to night, but seems to draw people over 30, so if you are looking for a place to dance in a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere, Sherlocks is it. Service is consistently good, and the lighting is great. This little club is laid out perfectly, with seating a little bit above and around the dance floor. The music is a mix of hip hop, line dances like cupid shuffle and spanky leg, old rock n roll, country and western, something for everyone. You will see people here in everything from jeans to suits. I have checked out the various dance clubs in Okc, and the techno music or top 40 stuff is not for me. You will always find some good music here. Some nights they are full, sometimes is is a smaller crowd, just depends. Ladies nights Sunday Tues Wed Thurs get in free, which is a great deal. They still do the Gator, which is great fun to watch. Come once and you will be hooked.
We ordered brocolli and chicken, pepper steak, beef fried rice, and 2 beef and cabage eggrolls for two. The food was great! All the vegitables in the brocolli and chicken and peppersteak were all fresh, crisp, and still reamined to keep their personnal flavors while being in the savory sauces of the entree'. The meats were tender and juicy. the rice was fresh, perfectly cooked, not over done, soggy, or split. The beef and cabbage eggroll was wonderful as well. The only questionable item was the price. We ordered like a family meal, it was a little high, and the quanitity of food in the order didn't really compare to the frice we paide. So go there, enjoy the food and the great service hospitality, but just order the individual dinners. Trust me, you will want more and that is why they are still so exceptional even the price issue.
