My cousin and I had been looking for a new salon to go to since we moved here. We both have particular hair colors and styles each having certain issues most stylists have not been able to handle very well. I made an appointment for a cut and correction color with Kathy and she was able to fit me in the very next day! It worked out perfect for me seeing as I only have one day off a week. She even said she could fit my cousin in for her color while my blonde was processing. Very convenient! The salon itself is extremely adorable! It has a relaxed, inviting atmosphere that makes you feel comfortable the entire time you're there! Kathy is absolutely amazing as well! She is well-spoken, knowledgeable, and very sweet. She knows what she is doing and listens to what you want. She does what you want, not what she wants. She has you leave feeling wonderful and very happy with the result, which she styles in a realistic manner. She does a style that fits in your life and is something that you can do yourself if your not an experienced hair stylist like she is. I will refer people to Toscana Salon from now on. They have gained two loyal and excited clients!
I have tried several spas in the Buffalo area and found this to be the best! I never fear infection from a pedicure as they are extremely careful to be completely sterile. It is so relaxing to sip on your beverage of choise while sitting in the massage chair during your pedicure. I am VERY tickleish and Kim is so patient with me! I have to admit though that my favorite thing is getting an hour and a half facial from Jo Ann Smith. Not only is she knowledgable about what facial I should get for my skin problems at that particular time, but the whole experience is amazing!! During the facial she gives an increadible massage. She uses these "chinese bells" to massage the face and declatage. It is a unique and awesome experience! In the few years that I have come here I have NEVER had a problem. I can assure you though that if you did, the owner(Kay) would bend over backwards to fix the problem. If you were to leave unsatisfied, the fault would be your own. The people who work here are fabulous ,so give youself a gift and give this place a try!!!
I like Terrapin Station. There's no hydroponics stuff in Terrapin Station. Geez. There's not even a picture of 'the leaf'! They obviously make a great deal of effort to fit into a neighborhood environment. There's children's tye-dye clothing, very cost-conscious silver jewelry, drums, tarot -- plus all the classic stuff you'd see in a college shop. Tapestries, local concert tickets to local summer music festivals. Yes they carry cigarettes, papers and smoking accessories. It's probably 20% of the space. But they even ID credit cards! I suggest perhaps looking around the store a bit and getting a fuller picture! I was in there lst week and they had a handmade $350 djembe that was obviously worth more like $500+! So check out the WHOLE place. You'll be glad you caught one of the more unique places in North Buffalo.
