The July To-Do List »
Use YP's sizzling summer checklist to pack in as many backyard barbecues, family trips, and memorable outings as you can before the kids head back to school.
This little hole in the wall is a privately owned gem that has been handed down from father to son for many years. My mom ate here in Sept. 1968, the night before I was born. When she went into labor, people said it was the chinese food giving her indigestion. lol That could explain why this has been my favorite place to eat all my life. My family knows I really care about someone when I share MY restaurant with them. The food is high quality- not buffet quality, with excellent flavor. The servings are large enough for two people, or even better, leftovers! Deluxe meals are served in courses four courses- soup of choice, appetizer plate (egg roll, spare rib, & puffed shrimp), main course, and dessert of almond cookie & fortune cookie. Ice cream is also available for self-service. I've searched the country & never found eggrolls as good as these...made with bean sprouts as opposed to cabbage. My husband was not sure about that at first, but now wont eat eggrolls from anywhere else. The spare ribs are a sweet barbeque that pull easily off the bone. The duck is wonderful without a gamey taste. The beef is always tender. Some people dont like it, because their minds are set to the all-you- can-eat buffet type chinese food, but if you like an actually dining experience sans sneeze guard, try this place! Warning:If it says spicy, don't be like my son-in-law & request extra spicy unless you want it habanero hot as opposed to just chili pepper hot.
I had seen this place but never had an interest in stopping in until I was checking out at the Tom Thumb just a few doors away. A young man named Crockett told me they have the best wings way better than Wingstop when I told him I was on my way to Wingstop to pick up an order. 3 days later for lunch I decided to visit after viewing their website the food looked so good, I was excited to try their food and I wasn't disappointed . I ordered the chicken philly cheesesteak combo that comes with wings , celery sticks, pink lemonade and ranch dressing. I ordered lemon pepper wings. Since they were out of menus I wrote their menu in a notebook I had in my purse. I ordered a side of french fries when I noticed on the menu they wouldn't be part of the combo I ordered. I was totally satisfied and amazed how good the chicken philly cheesesteak was it is to die for. I have a new hot spot not far from work or home that I can visit. I took a pic and posted it on facebook to let friends know of this little gem.
Being Chinese, I am very picky about my Chinese food and I've had a hard time finding a place that is decent that isn't a trek away from home. My search ends at Royal China because they have not only great dishes that are exceptional in presentation and taste, they also have delicious dim sum-like dumplings that can quell anybody's hunger. Whether your in the mood for a feast or just a few bites, this is the place to go. You can tell the owners put their heart and sole into this restaurant and their warm and generous personalities make you feel right at home. You can ask them any question or for a recommendation and they're more than happy to help. Dining at Royal China is a personal experience. It is a genuine hidden jewel of a restaurant that much of Dallas has yet to discover. For those who have unearthed this mainstay of 34 years, we are fortunate enough to know that we can always count on this great establishment for a memorable and delicious meal.
