I have had bad experiences myself, but so has my ill mother. I will start with my mother's experience that prompted me to write this review.
My mom has had heart surgery and brain surgeries in the past, and has been on Methodone and opiate pain medications for many years now for her many ailments. She was admitted to this hospital and she had her narcotic pills with her, in their original bottles. The nurse saw her open purse, saw the pill bottles, and took them. This was a week ago. Today my mom is getting discharged, and asked if she was getting her pills back and the nurse said, "We don't hold pills ma'm." And we found out that her pills were nowhere to be found! They offered to write her new prescriptions, but since she got them from a pain management doctor, she can't just get them prescribed by another doctor! This is such a mess! We are very poor and on food stamps, ACHSS and disability, and we can't afford to sue them, and now my mom is going to end up going through withdrawl from her Methadone when she gets home.
Now, my own experience:
I'm a very ill person and I have been to this hospital more times than I care to remember. The first few times were almost tolerable, but they really do not care for your pain at all. And they asked me "What medication has helped your pain in the past?" but when I answered honestly and told them I have been on Percocet before, all Hell broke lose and they never treated me the same and I have been treated like a drug seeker ever since. They have sat there while I was puking, crying, shaking and passing out from pain and gave me Motrin for it after it repeatedly did nothing for me. The nurses are rude, you never even see the doctors, I wouldn't go to this hospital again. In fact, I haven't.

Excessive billing billed multiple charges for each visit although each visit was the same exercise using stretch bands. When I contacted the billing office I was advised that these charges were the norm charged to everyone receiving physical therapy: you are billed a facility fee of $388 as well as the physical therapy fee of $188 for each visit and the initial visit also charges $396 for an evaluation. So be prepared to pay an exorbitant amount to use the padded table and floor space for a band exercise.
1.) Issue: The last name of both infants were spelled incorrectly on their birth certificates and social security cards.
Complication: Babies lost health insurance because we could not show proof of their existence with legal documentation and could not vaccinate them or get them to a pediatrician without major bills.
2.) Issue: Wrong Insurance billed with a wrong last name for myself. Billed as Alyssa
_____ to my husband's insurance UHC Select... My name is Alyssa _______, my insurance is UHC UMR.
Complication: Health insurance denied all claims. I have been talking with insurance companies every day for multiple hours a day for 7 months.
3.) Issue: The babies were automatically put on my husbands insurance in error.
Complication: His insurance will not remove the babies from his insurance because this would be "removing care from a minor". My insurance is denying all claims for the babies birth because they say, "the babies have alternate health care coverage".
These three issues have caused me so much grief. Over 300 phone calls, hours and hours of my time. I am in constant contact with your billing department who is trying to get this under control. After 7 months I am still receiving HUGE bills from labs, anesthesiology, first assists, ultrasounds and numerous people who read the tests totaling around 30k when I have already paid 3K and met my deductible.
The CEO did nothing and the billing department was pretty much non helpful as well. They wanted me to fill out tons of paperwork and give them my entire financial life because THEY messed up. Disgraceful, and I am a nurse.
Absolute worst experience in over 50 years at a hospital. Had a procedure scheduled for my mother who has Parkinson's and dementia, filled out endless admittance forms (it would seem for no reason) as no one read them. They were 2 hours late getting her in for surgery, attending didn't update her chart for another 5 hrs so she wasn't able to get her Parkinson's meds along with her other prescribed meds until way past the optimum time. Doctor didn't show up until 7:30. The orders for her included physical therapy and occupational therapy, if they had read her chart they would have seen she hasn't walked in a year and has extremely limited cognitive ability, not to mention she was in for a feeding tube. They obviously saw my mother as a cash cow, she has Medicare and full supplement insurance, nit to mention we brought our own CNA's as she has 24 hr care at home as is less agitated with the caregivers she knows providing her personal care. The attending doctor refused to discharge my mother after an overnight stay I the hospital for a procedure that is most often done on an out patient basis. When we insisted we wanted to remove her from the high risk situation (Scottsdale healthcare) he responded -rudely- if you take her home against my orders Medicare and your insurance will refuse payment! I consider that extortion, holding my 77 year old mother hostage so they can bill for terrible physician care an unnecessary services. I strongly suggest you look for another hospital!
The worst care I've come across from a the nursing staff at a hospital. The nurses in the birthing center are rude and act annoyed when they are needed. The bedside manner is severely lacking and I would recommend Scottsdale Osborn over this location to anyone considering having their baby at this location. Future patients beware of lackadaisical care and rude behavior from staff. Go at your own risk! I cannot believe the management actually okay with this!
If I could give this hospital NO STARS, I would! This hospital is TERRIBLE! Similar to the writer below, Denise S., my hospitalizations was similar. But perhaps a tad worse! On my day of discharge, my children were going to come and pick me up after work. I do not live here in AZ so do not know manym, if at all, people here, so I rely quite heavily on my children when I visit. Since this time was not good enough for them, they actually called the cops on me and had me ARRESTED! Yeah, you read that correctly! They said I was "tresspassing" because I did not leave right when the doctors discharged me! What the what, as my grandkids say! Just like the other writer they called in specialists after specialist in, all of them had placed me on a new medication for something or another and all those drugs made me sicker than what I went in for! My daughter taught me how to hold the pills in my mouth to "trick the nurses into thinking I took the medications! After about 3-4 days of doing this, suddenly my health was a miracle of a cure! The drugs were WORKING and I was clear for discharge!!!What drugs? Oh, you mean the ones I was NOT swallowing? I think if I had taken them my children would have been there with a truck to pick up my dead bones and not my living body! Avoid this place if you can, at all. For everything! Even outpatient testing! They WILL find something wrong with you, whether you have something or not, you will!
This hospital is beyond terrible. I fell and broke my shoulder was admitted and from then on it was a NIGHTMARE. a steady stream of specialists to soak medicare and my secondary ins with charges. I was diagnosed with heart problems that were not true, yelled at and had to stay awake 24/7 to be sure of what meds they stuck in my IV were not on my allergy list. I knew more than the nurses did about meds. they wanted to change all my meds that my specialist had me on when I tried to tell them I was only there for my shoulder. Push the call button and wait for hrs for someone to come help me walk to the bathroom because I have Parkinsons disease. The elderly lady in the next room was ignored when I told the nurse to help her, she shrugged her shoulders. STAY AWAY or bring a body guard with you. I left on my own with traumatic nightmares ever since.
I have been to this facility after a car accident and truthfully I wasn't impressed. They redeemed themselves yesterday when my son was injured Thursday night playing football for the school. He hurt his shoulder. Hoping it was just sore I took him in anyway to have it looked out. They were prompt, friendly and thorough with his exam and care. I couldn't have been happier with the care he received even AFTER I informed them I was uninsured they processed in a friendly and professional manner. Did numerous x-rays to confirm his shoulder was not dislocated from the collar bone that he tore a ligament in the AC joint. Besides the fantastic health care they gave my son they also informed me I was incorrect, our insurance was active an he was cover which was just the icing on the cake of a stressful situation becoming more tolerable. At least now I feel secure in knowing there is emergency room care available to my son and I if needed ... there's not a better feeling than that :)
They are the worst Hospital I ever been to...The care is substandard and they did not treat me for C-DIF but instead let me go saying it was my fault I was sick cause of my medication...I took the meds home and got better from C-DIF on my own...Stay away from this hospital, they pass the buck.
Absolutely the worst hospital care I have witnessed in sixty years. Let me be clear...if you or a family member have cancer of the throat, do not go to this hospital. It was a nightmare for my brother. We pulled him out o their "care" after they botched his feeding tube insertion. They collapsed his stomach. Other missteps, their chief respitory therapist asked my brother after his surgery if he was a smoker. Gee, what do you think? Did you happen to review his chart before you came in. Classless and clueless. Their patient advocate was argumentative and took offense when I demanded better care for my brother. Horrible experience. Transferred my brother to Mayo after ten days of the attitude. If I could sue the place I would. Worthless patient care. Amateurs. Charlatans. Dr. Kurt Heiland, ENT, should be ashamed. Borderline malpractice. Disgraceful.
