Thumbs Down - Do Not Recommend For Others

Based upon the widely differing views of this establishment, I and the others, decided to try it. After dining there, we realized that the positive reviews are most likely posted by the owners or other insiders themselves, as there was few positive aspects to our dining experience. The service was the worst aspect, with the food right behind it. I did like that, albeit small, it was not crowded. That might be based upon their nonacceptance of credit cards (which we preferred as most of us pay cash), and partially because of the poor service which must be a continual problem plaguing this establishment. Based upon this, I simply cannot recommend this even as a ""fast"" dining experience. Thumbs Down.

Best BYOB in Town and 5 Stars to the Owner

After reading the previous reviews I thought I could add some light to the scope of this small and always busy hot spot in North Scottsdale. I have been a regular at Guiseppe's for the past 9 years. WOW 9 years, time flies and things have changed in Scottsdale. Well, most everything has changed except for Guiseppe's. The food has been consistently great, the staff and service awesome and the owners are an Arizona family that have been serving up incredible home made food for I think two decades. First on Indian School Road and then on North Scottsdale Road in this small strip mall. The first thing I appreciate as a wine lover is the NO CORKAGE fee. That's correct. No charge to bring in your favorite bottle of vino thus allowing you to enjoy a night out with your family or that special someone in your life and NOT break the bank while doing it.

One review I read commented on lack of credit card acceptance. While this may be a concern for some, I for one appreciate the owner's decision to keep the menu cost down by eliminating this expense. And as for the cash needed for dinner, I have found the convenience of the ATM machine located across the parking lot to work well.

To the owners of Guiseppe's and their great sons all working at the restaurant, thanks for over 9 years of beautiful dinners and memories shared with other regulars at Guiseppe's. Wayne at The Epicurean Club

Hands down great food, great people

I'm not sure what the previous review was referring to, but I was astounded at the service, quality of food, and just plain liveliness of such a small restaurant when I went here.

There are no menus, just the day's specials on giant chalkboards on the wall. Probably 9-10 tables in a small strip-mall space decorated with white and black checker tiling, this place has done a great job with a difficult location.

The first thing I notice when I walk in is that EVERY table had a bottle of wine, despite the fact that this place is BYOB only. Then, looking around at the other patrons, I realized these people all dined here at least once or twice a month and seemed to be very loyal regulars. With the sheer variety of dishes offered here, it's no wonder that you can keep coming back for something new.

Another great part of the ambiance was the open, conversational atmosphere; every table seemed to be talking to every other table! Try looking around this place and finding anything but big grins of contentment, you won't see much else.

And the most important part: the FOOD. My first question (to the owner, who also happened to serve our table that night) was ""what do you recommend?"" He went through four dishes with us, two of which the other people I ate with ordered and LOVED: the roast chicken and green chili penne, and the classic spaghetti bolognese. I was kind of surprised that I went to an italian restaurant that so highly recommended something so seemingly plain in character... until I tried it. Spicy and delicious, someone here can cook pasta to the peak of perfection.

And finally, my dish, the carbonara. This dish will make you fall in love with Italian food all over again, it is the essence of a rich and savory Italian meal. Anyone trying to get a bite ran the risk of a swift fork to the hand, this creamy goodness is too good to share.

For $12-15 a plate, you get pasta that should cost $45 a plate. Eat here.

Coasting on it's past...

We arrive after hearing much buzz about Guiseppes on Beth and Bill.... We walk in, its has its charm about it... but always a red flagf to me.. the walls adorning review after review from the mid-nineties.. giving them the street cred that their food is the real deal.. were handed menus by the owner/waiter it ranges from non descript like ""tortellini"" to presumptuous like angelinas special..( no descriptions at all) we immedietely notice the words on the menu..""no credit cards"" hey folks its 2008, kind of a standard in ANY restaurant in the COPA to take credit cards when menu is 12-15 bucks a plate..(This aint Heber or Globe) I asked if they take anything beside cash, for I did'nt bring 60 cash with me.. He grudgingly took my check.. should have left right there, but we very mistakenly stayed.. my wife asked what he reccomends... he decided to correct us like we were in 4th grade or something about how we should never ask trhat because people will just push what need to go.. Quite possibly one of the biggest owner dooshbag moments I have ever encountered at any restaurant.. We were sitting right next to the kitchen, and I noticed another huge red flag.. stacked white microwaves like you get at Wal-Mart... Why would a 35 seat restaurant need 2 microwaves I pondered.. Then as I heard the continual hum and ding through my 45 minute dining trip I reccolect the steam of Quasenar of my Veal Parmigian and it is a life lesson, More red flags...Lots of visuals of Sysco tomato cans.. Hey, I get it.. 12-15 bucks they arent using Mclendon Farms or anything, but hide your canned shame please from public eyes.. Finally our bill... a hand written with no prices put in.. $45.24.... 1 cold stale bruschetta app, 2 microwaved entrees, a diet coke, and an ice tea.... This was very overpriced, and it was some of the most lazy cooked italian food... You can always judge a restaurant by its kitchen hood,, it is in the open and very dirty..
