I have to preface this comment by saying that I worked in the auto dealership field for more than 25 years, selling and servicing both domestic as well as imported vehicles. Having said that our family has purchased 4 Hondas from this dealership, 2 while in the old location, and 2 in the new, improved Freemans Bridge location. The salesman for all 4 vehicles has been Mike Benice, and he has always been willing to go the extra mile for us on all of the cars. If we needed to schedule a service appointment, we'd call Mike and he'd handle it and get back to us with the appointment date and time, no hassle. I had the experience of going to the new showroom to pick up some paperwork for one of the deals and Mike was occupied with another customer when I arrived. While sitting in the waiting area I was approached by no less than 4 people, some office workers,service workers, and salespeople. All wanted t know if I was being helped, all courteous, and each asking me if I'd like a coffee or pastry/fresh baked cookie. When Mike became available he had the needed paperwork, all ready to go, and he asked if I wanted anything, (coffee, cookies, etc). my experience with this dealership, given my own past history in the field is this is how an automobile dealership should be run, from sales to service, people with great attitudes. I have always subscribed to the adage, "It's not the business that makes the people, but the people who make the business". Mohawk Honda exemplifies this adage with it's people, especially Mr. Benice.
I found Ankers Auto Service shop about 4 years ago and haven't brought my car anywhere else since. I have had service on everything from brakes to new tires and oil changes to replacing the front end after a crash, the professionals in the office can take care of any auto body problem or service. Tonya in the front office is a great liaison between the service staff and the customer, there are never any surprises when you need something done and she is very friendly, which is a great value add. Dave, the owner, has been on Van Vranken for at least 25 year that I can tell. When watching him deal with customers it is easy to tell why he's been in business for so long. At every turn he is looking for the best deal on parts, I have shopped around for my car and Ankers is always close to or better than the lowest price I can find on parts. I will always pay a premium for the excellent service I know, and trust, at Ankers. The relationships he has built with other merchants over the years are only a benefit to his customers. This is just another rave review of the shop. You will find 25+ years of hand written notes to the same effect when you walk into the reception area.
This is a truly an honest and trustworthy business. Having grown up with my own personal mechanics in the family, I never had the need to trust anyone else with my car. But now I am an adult and daddy can't come to the rescue anymore. My husband and I have a 98 Jeep Cherokee that was presenting one of those fabulous mystery problems (would simply die while driving). Dave was not only quick to diagnose the problem but was extremely understanding when we wanted to fully understand the issue. Being that we aren't terribly mechanically minded, Dave allowed me to have my brother call him from Syracuse to hear the diagnosis so we could feel better about the situation. Sure as he said we needed a new computer - all fixed! We couldn't have asked for better, kinder service. Thanks so much!!!
I recently moved to this area from Colorado and I chose Ankers because of all the great reviews I read online. I was so relieved to see how true they were. I asked for an estimate for my 1995 Jeep passing state inspections ( in Colorado you only need emissions to pass, so I was a little worried). I was so happy and relived when I was told straight up what needed to be done in order to pass. Not like places I have been before where they do everything they can to empty your pockets. Not only did they fix what I asked them to, but they even gave us a list of things we could fix on our own instead of just giving us estimates for how much it would cost for them to do them. We will definitely be going to Ankers for all our car service needs!
Dave has been fixing my cars for years. I also trust them to go over my vehicle and find any problems or maintenance that is needed, that I may have overlooked. Dave and staff provide many years of knowledge and excellence. They stand behind their work and are always fair. My cars are getting old, and sometimes require special care. Dave's shop provides it at fair prices. If there is ever a question about anything, Dave (the owner), is happy to deal directly with you honestly and expertly! I've been an Anker's customer for over 15 years and this is the story why... One nite my vw start running really rough and kept stalling, other mechanics couldn't even diagnos the problem. After many replaced parts, the problem persisted and a friend refered me to Anker's. Dave just listened to the running motor, went into the garage and grabbed an allen whench and with a twist, my car was back running strongly. Anker's Auto Service - is The First Class Auto Shop ! I service my Avalon 2000, and Acura 2006 MDX there all the time. The Price is reasonable and the service is very good ! I know David for about 20 Years! Dave is very customer oriented and very knowledgeable mechanic. I can't say how many times David saved me money by fixing things the other " Rip-off Auto Shops" said needed to be replaced and wanted me to pay them for new Parts. Front struts replacement I had my 2002 honda civic's front strut leaking. I took it to Dave and he replaced my struts and also fixed other problems in my car. His service was exceptional. Dave's true and honest service is not to be missed by anyone. My car functions very well for long time after he fixed. Dave's very considerate and he also takes care of the problems in a more personal way. I appreciate and am delighted to have Dave to take care of my car. Thanks Dave. My '97 Honda Accord was hit as I was stopped at a light. The car was "totaled" by the insurance company's appraiser. A co-worker recommended Ankers Auto to me. Ankers was able to repair my car for about half the appraiser's estimate and significantly under what the insurance company gave me for my car. They did a great job with the body work. There's no indication that the car had been hit. The staff at Ankers was friendly and courteous. I would definitely use them again for service and repairs.
