My name is Joel. I filed a claim on my own in May of 2016. I was denied in March of 2017. I hired Mr. Hausburg a month after that. I waited nearly a year before I was denied in March of 2017. I have to say that Mr. Huasburg did his job. He got me a hearing in front of a ALJ in November. I won my Disability case and it was expedited. Now in January of 2018 I got my approval letter and I'm expected to get SSI and SSDI in March. I'm very satisfied with Mr. Hausburg results. I have no complaints. I would recommend hiring Mr. Hausburg. Great Job!

(4/28/2017): I wrote this review receiving no reward/benefit. I highly recommend Mr. Jonathan E. Hausburg as a representative with your Social Security Administration (SSA) claim. Mr. Hausburg and Ms. Denise Hawkins, legal assistant, treated me with genuine compassion and kindness. I am a disabled veteran and began my struggles with the SSA May 2014. SSA denied my request for benefits March 2015. I felt horrible, I felt like a loser, I felt insignificant and I felt betrayed as a citizen and as a soldier. I found Mr. Hausburg while searching online. I choose him because of his 30+ years of experience in the Sarasota, Florida area handling SSA cases. I believed if he has that many years of experience then he knew SSA judges and staff well in the area. Ms. Denise greeted me and immediately made me feel at ease with her kindness at my first meeting. Mr. Hausburg’s honesty and humility is the cornerstone that built a strong foundation of trust between us. Throughout the entire time of handling my case he and Ms. Denise kept me informed and checked on how I was doing while we waited for future decisions from the SSA. Every time I had a question Ms. Denise would either email or call me within one to two business days with an answer. They became family and Mr. Hausburg has become a good friend, even though we had not won anything yet. My case finally came to trial and the Judge ruled in my favor. As of April 28, 2017 I have received the benefits explanation letter and can expect my first disability payment May 2017. As for the fees, the SSA directly pays Mr. Hausburg based upon a government regulated calculation. I only paid $50 out-of-pocket to Mr. Hausburg. He only charged me for fees he paid to get copies of medical records as per initial contract agreement. If you are lying awake at night and feel hopeless when it comes to being denied by the SSA, please consider Mr. Hausburg and Ms. Denise. They are my heroes and I trust them 100%.

Mr. Hausberg was a great help in getting approved for SSDI. He handled making sure all of the paperwork and medical records were perfect. That's the top reason people get denied. Then my court date went more smoothly than I could have imagined. I can't say enough good things about my experience.

The review from Karyn E. is so far from my own experience I must tell you that I would not put any faith in what it says. That being said allow me to tell you of my own experience. First of all I used to be a clerk of the court and as such spent many days in court observing quality counselors as well as poor quality. Attorney Hausburg was a very good quality attorney. Just to prepare for my case his office had to contact approx 14 of my doctors as I have a number of illnesses. He had to read through thousands of pages of medical papers of which just one hospital sent over 600 pages. I have been ill all my life but it kept growing, one illness after another until finally work was no long an option. Social Security turned me down twice and I didn't know what to do. I went to Attorney Hausburg whose expertise was immediately apparent. After years of fighting for help and getting turned down because they did not see any one of my conditions as disabling me, but Attorney Hausburg made then finally see that the combination of all my problems together were my disability. Because of him my wife who had been trying all alone to keep our finances together was saved. I got enough to pay off my medical debts, help my wife and start making doctor appointments again for help. His fee was a value. I didn't even pay it out of pocket. He took my case on contingency and only collected the fee as Karyn E. pointed out, paid to him out of my SSD benefits so that in a way I never felt I paid him much at all. He was well worth every cent and I would hire him again in a New York minute. I cannot recommend him strongly enough. In fact I would make one more point. The fact that he had only a month to prepare for Karyn E.'s case and won is remarkable. It is clear to me that she has no idea how much time attorneys spends preparing cases and especially getting ready for court. Her message to me only makes him more commendable not less. Mr. Hausburg, if you are reading this, thank you from my heart and on behalf of my family. If I ever need an attorney for any other social security issues, your are my first selection sir.

I am an attorney specializin...

I am an attorney specializing in social security disability work; practicing in Sarasota for 33 years. Never in my career have I received a complaint so blatantly false.

The bottom line is this complaint is wholly without merit. I did my job. The client received a fully favorable decision. I was paid pursuant to a standard fee agreement which she willingly signed and which is identical to all fee agreements used by lawyers in social security practice and which was approved by the judge in the case.

I simply cannot imagine what this individual would have said about me had we lost the case!

Too bad I had to give this guy even one star!

Run don't walk away from this SSD attorney. He will rip you off, put in a LITTLE time as possible and once he is paid you are gone and I mean gone. Not even a phone call. You see he had already been paid an astronimical fee so he didn't give a damn if I was paid.

Don't bother asking for them to finish handling your case after he gets his money.

The guy put in maybe 3 hours and got over 5K from my award then he wouldn't even put in a dire need request for me. I had to do it myself. He did NO research on my case. I only hired him a month before my ALJ so I basically had it all handled just wanted back-up. He didn't even have my medical records when we went to court. He did NO work in between, no research of my records... nothing so he left over 12K on the table, or perhaps he got that for himself...

How he earned the $5,700 K... He met with me 2x for 15 minutes each time. Then he drove to St Pete, 45 min at most. Spent 20 min in court and took off like a bat out of hell immediately after saying wait 30 days as he left. Perhaps a 45 min drive back...

So lets see. his time worked out to be maybe 3 hours or less max. WOW did I ever go to the wrong lawyer and get the wrong career. Seems he is making over $1900.00 per hour and laughing all the way to the bank as I sat with my electric turned off for over a week and he would do nothing.

I finally called SSD and put in a dire need letter myself. too bad I couldn't charge him $1900.00 for the hour it took me to complete his job. DO NOT HIRE!

I completely agree with "no help" and "Noor75"... What a joke of an attorney. Hired him just 3 weeks before ALJ, I already had all the work done just felt more comfortable to have someone knowledgable with me.

This guy is a low as they go. 6k for 2 hours of his time. Met with me 2X for 15 minutes then showed up in court for 20 minutes. Oh and he left 9k on the table that could have been part of my back pay had he done ANYTHING but show up for a few minutes.

I won, which I would have anyway but this low end high charging lawyer got his 6k and dumped me. NO COMMUNICATION after he got paid and I still haven't been paid monthly or back pay. Guess his 2500.00 per hour isn't enough to take care of his clients till the end of the case.

Sadly I have to give this rating even 1 star when it should be negative stars and many of them..

You know there is a place in hell four people who take advantage of the disabled.

DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT hire this guy!

I retained Mr. Hausburg in 2012 to assist me with an appeal to a Social Security judgement against me. I am a disabled Vet and I live in the Sarasota area. I interviewed 4 attorneys before deciding for Mr. Hausburg. Unlike the others I talked with, Mr. Hausburg had a clear understanding of the appeals process, met with me personally to review my case and didn't ask me for a retainer before he would take the matter up. (Asking for upfront fees is prohibited by the Social Security Administration yet 2 of the lawyers I spoke with asked for money anyway)

I followed Mr. Hausburg's instructions to the letter and collected all of the information he requested. The appeal was submitted and 5 months later I had won the case with all back benefits. I could not have been happier with Mr. Hausburg and his staff.

I cannot account for the negative comments I have read here but can only surmise that the respondents were disappointed in finding out that their cases lacked enough merit to go forward in the process. My own experience was quite satisfactory.

This review undoubtedly was written by an individual whose case I did not take. Our consultations are free and I am very straightforward as to whether I think you have a viable case or not. Sometimes people do not want to hear the truth if their case has little merit. Unless we win a case, neither the client nor myself makes any money so to that extent money is certainly of great concern to both the client and myself. Afterall, that is why these claims are filed -- to obtain monetary benefits. I have been practicing Social Security law for 30 years and I can assess a claim very quickly. I pull no punches and I suppose that can be taken as rude or insensitive, but most people prefer this direct approach when they meet with me.

I'm sorry I have to give him e...

I'm sorry I have to give him even one star. I'm a retired paralegal whose been helping a close friend apply for Social Security Disability Benefits. I've assisted others with same. I went to my friend's initial (and thankfully last) consultation with Jonathan Hausburg. From start to finish of our very short appointment, Mr. Hausburg was dismissive almost to the point of being rude as well as abrupt. He asked no questions about my friend's condition nor gathered pertinent facts. He took no notes. It was as if he couldn't get us in and out of his office quickly enough. As I look back on it, I remember throughout our entire (but very short) meeting, Mr. Hausburg sat behind his desk, but on the edge of his chair - like he had no intention of getting comfortable/settling in for any kind of decent interview, fact finding, or conversation. Body language can be very telling. Even though my friend and I are both college educated, middle aged, upper income individuals, we both left with the distinct impression that we weren't quite up to snuff where Mr. Hausburg was concerned. It seemed to be more of a numbers game - as after running the numbers in his head, he apparently concluded that the income his contingency fee was based on wouldn't justify his time. Anyway, it was a very disappointing experience and left my friend more depressed than when we'd arrived. As a paralegal I've dealt with many attorneys in many different practice areas (Real Estate; ERISA; Tax; Mergers and Acquisitions; Civil Trial, Disability, to name a few) and can only say that in my opinion, Mr. Hausburg falls far short when it comes to professionalism, courtesy, and - from my experience an important asset for any Social Security Disability attorney - just a tid-bit of acting like he cares or gives a darn about the disabled person sitting in front of him. I think it's all a numbers $$ game with him. There are plenty of excellent and caring disability attorneys out there; Mr. Hausburg is NOT one of them.
