AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care

I went to AAMCO because I their warranty is covered at every store I take my car to, and I travel a lot despite my vehicle having higher mileage. My transmission was in okay shape, and they quoted me at 2,300. Not only did they complete the job in a timely manner, I didn't realize that the mechanics there can do everything even though they heavily specialize in transmissions. I thought they just did transmissions, but now I'll drop in when I'm in the Sarasota area for my regular maintenance. Steve is very knowledgeable. I was more than pleased at the end of the day.

Do not take your car here. I drove my car into this establishment because the transmission was randomely shifting hard. After the mechanic took it for a test drive he told me it was no longer running properly and it was "unsafe" to drive it home. I reluctantly left my car there and signed a paper for them to diagnose my transmission for $500. They tried selling me several different transmissions, I told them to not touch my car until monday. When I called on monday they had put a $4000 transmission my car that I did not approve nor sign for. They now have a lien on my car because I refuse to purchase this transmssion from them. I have filed with the BBB as well as the state of Florida and will be pursuing legal action to get my car back. Hopefully this review will save someone else from being taken advantage of.
