This is a place for all movie buffs, for young and old, silent films, pre-50s after 50s till today, foreign and adult! One might think the day of the video rental store is gone forever that's not the case when it comes to this shop! Video Renaissance is a cut above anything that I've ever experienced a Media rental shop they, literally have almost everything, I've actually tried to find titles they wouldn't have and they not only did they have, the film often you'll ask for a title aynd the clerk will say would you like the 1940s version or the most current version or perhaps you would you like the version done in 1960 in France I'm not kidding. What's really a true pleasure is movies that hadn't done well in there day, for instance Garlands last film 1963 "I Could Go On Singing" obscure as it was Video Renaissance will have it on DVD or let's say you want to see King Kong unedited they'll have it. This staff is also extraordinarily knowledgeable you can describe perhaps scene and partial name of an actor and walla out of their vaults comes the title and a copy of the movie!!!! I personally feel this shop to be of historical value and rue the day closes, the Smithsonian or the Met should pick it up in it's entirety the twist will be that people could rent a movie 2212 watch it right there in the museum, old school on a flat screen siting on a Eames chair rater than viewing the film on there implant in their head floating in their pod ! LOL Thank You, Sir Chandler Paxston FYI In there very discreet adult section closed from kids or any eyes that are not interested, for example the category MEN4Men they have everything from the early days 70s and the 80s so if you're looking for a vintage Jack Wrangler to amateur films before amateur was a category for instants Old Reliable they have it or at the least a sampling, You might say what does this category of film have to if anything? Well In the gay community where an entire generations has been lost by a devastating disease part of history )not all) is represented in the films. Video Renaissance has done the right thing in preserving them as well as all the other types of films discussed earlier wether the Moral Majority think so or not! Video Renaissance is the best!!!!
This is a beautiful store situated in downtown Sarasota. It was designed to be the primary shopping center for the neighborhood--an expensive area of million-dollar high rise condos situated in a walkable downtown, old-fashioned city. Food is lushly displayed and facilities ar wonderful. Prices are high, though, as is with all Whole Foods.
