    Death before Decaf!

    That is the motto of this little coffee shop. Located down the street from Santa Monica College. It is a good place to take a book and read while enjoying one of the beverages served there. Check out their calendar and you could see a night of spoken word poetry, you can learn how to play the Chinese game that goes by the name of go, or an up and coming musicians performance.

    Hip Little Coffee/Cafe Joint

    I discovered UnUrban many years ago after a friend recommended it. Aparently it was started by a couple of waitresses from another local restaurant. The space itself is pretty hip - kind of a random floor plan and no two tables/chairs are alike. Half of the place is the cafe/coffee area and half is an entertainment/art area. My husband and I both had art shows there many years ago. They also have bands... read more play, have poetry readings, and various acts. To me coffee is coffee, but it's the ambience that makes the place, and UnUrban definitely has that. The food isn't bad either (their pies were awesome!). So if you're looking for something more out of the ordinary than Starbucks, this is the place.
