General Info:
Via Services is a private, independent non-profit organization dedicated to helping individuals with disabilities and special needs achieve greater self-sufficiency and lead richer lives. Via Services has an unwavering commitment to client satisfaction and will deliver the highest quality programs and services to people with disabilities and special needs. Via serves children and adults with disabilities, ages birth to 90 years, with communication, learning, developmental, physical and multiple disabilities. Approximately 3,400 clients are served annually. The ethnic diversity of the client population is similar to that of Santa Clara County. AMENITY **Camp Costanoan, Via's Outdoor Education & Recreation Program:** Camp Costanoan is Via's residential, outdoor education, recreation and learning center for children and adults, ages 5 and older, with physical and/or developmental disabilities and special needs. Camp is located on 13-wooded acres nestled in the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Our facility has six modern and accessible sleeping lodges equipped with bathrooms, showers and heaters, a spacious main lodge where dining and large group programs take place, two pools, one of which is wheelchair accessible, a health center, campfire circle, creative arts and performing arts buildings, a sports court, nature pavilion with an accessible organic garden, horse corral as well as hiking and nature trails. We offer weekend camping programs during the school year as well as summer sessions ranging from 4 to 9 days.
**First Step Early Intervention Programs:** Via's First Step Early Intervention Program provides therapeutic and monitoring services for children who are diagnosed with developmental delays and those at risk for developing delays from birth through 8 years of age. **Assessments and Evaluations** First Step Early Intervention offers three types of evaluations - developmental (motor, speech/language, adaptive, self-care, cognition and social/emotional), speech and language and occupational therapy. Our speech/language pathologists, occupational therapists, early interventionists and developmental specialists conduct formal evaluations to determine a child's developmental level. **Speech and Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy** Speech and language therapy is a specialized treatment to maximize a person's ability to communicate with others. Our speech/language pathologists address several areas of communication: receptive and expressive language, articulation, fluenc y, voice, pragmatics/social, oral motor and play. Our occupational therapists address the child's "occupations". These occupations include feeding, sensory integration, motor development, play skills and social interactions. **Early Intervention** Via's early interventionists and developmental disability specialists are skilled at using play-based techniques to promote growth in communication, cognition, motor skills, self-care and social/emotional development. We work with children up to 5 years of age who show signs of having a developmental disability or who are at risk for one.
