Budget Truck Rental

When I got the truck, everything seemed fine. I returned the truck via the drop box because it was after hours, and that is where the problems began.

When I got my bill, I noticed a large difference in what my charges were estimated to be and what they were (they don't send you a breakdown of the charges so you have to call to find out what was in the total thus i'm sure these charges go unnoticed frequently). When I called, they said there was a gas charge for not filling it up. This was untrue as I had just filled it up and upon further investigation, they had managed to fit an extra 1.2 gallons in the tank of a huge truck. Obviously a gas pump clicks off before the tank is completely full and I have to drive from the gas station to the rental location. But they went ahead and charged me a $4 refueling fee and a whopping $30 service charge!!! After a 1 hour conversation with corporate (the location itself would not reverse the charge), they took off the charge.



They also called me to inform me that the key was not in the drop box, only the paperwork (it apparently slipped out of my hand when I was walking to the drop box). After searching for days and not finding the key anywhere, I made a trip to the location and found the keys on the ground and returned them to the drop box. The dealer (without informing me that they were charging me) proceeded to charge me daily rentals for the truck, even though they obviously knew I didn't have the truck and did so for 7 extra days after the truck was returned. Then they charged me an additional $35 fee for remaking a key which was not refunded even when the key was found. None of those fees were refunded. How about a phone call, email, text, or voicemail stating that I am being charged even though the truck was returned. Especially since there is NO clause in their 3 page contract about lost/misplaced keys.



Be extremely careful with these guys. They will charge you everywhere they can while not informing you of anything. You have to call (they don't send you an invoice) just to find out what fees they have tacked on without you knowing. Then, you have to call the corporate store and wait for 15 min (the local store said they can't remove gas charges), but the corporate guys can't deduct anything either until they get the local store manager on the phone. Had to wait 2 days before I could even call so I could call during a time that the manager was at work. Ridiculous.
