Vaccination
We will be cancelling all of our Vaccinations Clinics at this time. If it is time for your pet to receive a vaccine please call our office to make an appointment with a Technician. There is a $15 fee applied to these visits.

We will be with your pet every step of the way and make sure that they are comfortable and cared for throughout the process. At ABC PET CLINIC, Pets will receive a sedative and pain medication (when indicated) to help provide them with the easiest, most stress free transition. The pet owner and their family are able to spend as much time as needed with their beloved pet prior to the administration of the euthanasia solution. Rabies vaccination would fall under a cored vaccine. Other Common diseases ABC PET CLINIC can protect your dog against include distemper parvo virus, leptospirosis, Lyme, and Bordetella (the cause of "kennel cough"). Whether your cat is indoor, outdoor or both they should be vaccinated against vaccine FVRCP which is sometimes referred to as "Cat Parvo". Periodontal Disease Treatment
Teeth cleaning begins with removal of tartar from the crowns and is followed by cleaning the teeth below the gum line. Simply removing the tartar from the crowns makes the teeth look better, but cleaning the teeth below the gum line is extremely important for controlling dental disease. The sulcus around the teeth will be evaluated using an instrument called a periodontal probe. This measures the depth of the small pocket around each tooth and helps us determine if periodontal disease is affecting any of the teeth. Teeth with abnormal measurements will be x-rayed to determine what is going on below the gum line. Teeth affected with periodontal disease will be treated by cleaning the root surface and application of an antibiotic gel (DoxirobeTM) or extracted, depending on the severity.

It is much better to err on the side of caution and have anything new or unusual in your dog checked out as soon as possible. Older dogs don't usually have the reserve that younger dogs do, and time is critical. As always, if your pet is in pain, lethargic or simply not "normal," please give us a call to consult with our doctor regarding these changes. This is especially important for senior pets - they may hide illness better and they do not often have the health reserves they did as a younger animal.
