        Founded in 1992, The Los Angeles Maritime Institute is a voluntary organization. It provides a series of sail training and program delivery classes for its volunteers for educational approaches. The institute offers a program called the top sail youth program as a training ground for youth providing experience in problem-solving, decision-making, planning, self-reliance and leadership. It has affiliate with the Los Angeles Maritime Museum. The Los Angeles Maritime Institute (LAMI) provides character-building sail-training adventures for youth.
