    Nice, warm atmosphere, huge portions

I have lived in this area for 15 years and I just recently grabbed a bite at Rainbow Pizza. First of all, their menu is extensive-which is great. So many things to choose from! My friend and I dove into their Mediterranean cuisine which was very good. Delicious hummus, stuffed grape leaves, nice wine. It was lunchtime and the restaurant was pretty packed-good crowd. It's a great place to go if you don't want to get stuck in the downtown San Mateo hustle and bustle. Will go again for sure!

Popular friendly place with GREAT FOOD

We have been regular customers of Rainbow Pizza for years.

The secret pizza to order is a #11 (Feta + Tomato) with

*light mozerella*. That pizza is mouth-wateringly excellent.

Sometimes we also order extra garlic.

That pizza is a real treat! And the other dishes I've

had there are very good as well. And I love their

    Greek lemon soup too.

They do tend to put a lot of mozerella on the pizza, so if

you want to cut calories and increase the flavor and

proportion of other ingredients, you have to ask for

    light mozerella.

Hope You Have Time to Wait

Checkered table clothes, Greek art and a large dining area convey a sense of this family run Greek operation. On the night of my visit, it was very busy pumping out to go pizza orders and servicing the hordes of hungry customers sitting at tables. After being seated, we were given only one menu to look at. It then took our waitress twenty minutes to get to us to order drinks and dinner. I ended up ordering the Gyros sandwich served with tzatziki sauce in pita bread with tomatoes and onions. Luckily, the food turned the tides. The sandwich was mouthwatering, with a perfect harmony existing between the meat, sauce and vegetables. It made me long to visit the Greek islands shown in the posters on the walls. Our waitress interrupted this dream by pitching our bill at us as we ate. At least she was quicker this time...
